So small and yet so powerful - Shabbat Shalom

02/20/2025

This Sunday at noon

🚨 500 days in hell is 500 too many. 🚨

76 hostages are still held captive by Hamas terrorists, suffering in barbaric and inhumane conditions. Enough is ENOUGH.

đź“ŤSunday, Feb. 23 | 12 p.m. | Central Park (NYC)

Join B'nai B'rith as we stand with the Hostages and Missing Families Forum (Bring Them Home Now) and organizations across our community to demand their immediate release.

We cannot—and will not—rest until ALL the hostages are freed and reunited with their families and loved ones.

🎗️

02/20/2025

Our hearts are broken as the bodies of four hostages kidnapped on October 7 and murdered in captivity have been returned home. We stand with the families and respect their wishes for privacy as they wait for identification procedures to be completed.

Hamas has butchered and murdered babies, children, women, elderly people and entire families. The hostages who have been released have shown signs of and recounted torture, sexual abuse, starvation and heinous mistreatment. We will not rest until all the hostages are home and Hamas is held accountable for these crimes against humanity.

Hadassah Sharon Chapter
March On The Same Page Book Club
Thursday, March 20 · 1 pm
at a private home in New York, NY 10023 (Address provided upon registration)

Let's get together in person, in the Lincoln Center area, for eating and socializing starting at 1 pm. The discussion of "My Father's Paradise" by Ariel Sabar will begin at 2 pm.

In a remote corner of the world, forgotten for nearly three thousand years, lived an enclave of Kurdish Jews so isolated that they still spoke Aramaic, the language of Jesus. Mostly illiterate, they were self-made mystics, gifted storytellers, and humble peddlers who dwelt in harmony with their Muslim and Christian neighbors in the mountains of northern Iraq. To these descendants of the Lost Tribes of Israel, Yona Sabar was born. Yona’s son, Ariel, grew up in Los Angeles, where Yona had become an esteemed professor, dedicating his career to preserving his people’s traditions. Ariel wanted nothing to do with his father’s strange immigrant heritage—until he had a son of his own. Ariel Sabar brings to life the ancient town of Zakho, discovering his family’s place in the sweeping saga of Middle Eastern history. This powerful book is an improbable story of tolerance and hope set in what today is the very center of the world’s attention.

There is no charge to attend but donations to benefit Youth Aliyah are appreciated.

LAST CHANCE to REGISTER!

Hadassah Sharon Chapter
February Open Meeting
Tuesday, February 18 · 12 pm
In New York, NY 10003 (Address provided upon registration)

"Napoleon's Mirage" is an epic saga of love set during the Napoleonic invasion of Egypt that explores loyalty, cultural failures, and a potentially history-altering military defeat. More than a year has elapsed since the ghetto gates were destroyed and Ancona’s Jewish community liberated by Napoleon’s troops. Yet instead of feeling free, Mirelle is ostracized–by the community, by her best friend, even by her mother– and labeled a “ruined woman.” As her efforts to nurture her family’s legacy are thwarted, she realizes she might have lost her last chance at love.

Join us as our special guest speaker, author Michelle Cameron talks about her latest novel "Napoleon's Mirage." Michelle Cameron is the author of Jewish historical fiction. "Nepoleon's Mirage" is the sequel to "Beyond the Ghetto Gates." Michelle is a director of The Writers Circle, a NJ-based creative writing program serving children, teens, and adults. She lives in Chatham, NJ, with her husband and has two grown sons of whom she is inordinately proud.
