Extra! Extra! Read all about it! First Mountain Preschoolers are now Science Lab Potato Farmers!
Back in May, while planting our Mother's Day flower seeds, we discussed all types of seeds from the smallest mustard seeds & peanuts to the largest seed - the coconut! 🥥
Curiosity dictates experimentation and predictions - when someone asks what about a potato? 🥔 We had to find out. We cut a potato in half, propped it in a clear glass to watch the roots grow, then planted it in soil. We watched it grow for 2 months into what looked like a lush bush & once the leaves started to fall off, we knew it was time to harvest.
We truly had no idea💡 what to expect.
Everyone took a guess on how many potatoes might have grown in the bucket.
Michael's guesstimate of 30 is the winner!
Congratulations to our First Mountain Science Lab Potato Farmers!
Now we are all ready to vote on what seed to plant next. We have already planted milkweed for butterflies 🦋 and marigolds for ladybugs 🐞.
Heading back to the Science Lab!

Thank You First Mountain Preschool families and friends for sharing your children with us & for placing your faith & trust in us. Every year now & for the past 28 years, this is a bittersweet time of year. So proud of our students and now sending them onto making the world a brighter, better place.

Dear Hajnalka & David Allan-Matheson,
Thank You for your kind words.
My daughter graduated today from preschool and I wanted to share our experience.
If anyone is looking for a wonderful preschool where their child will feel almost at home while receiving an excellent education, I highly recommend FMPS. Susan and her amazing colleagues do an outstanding job making the most of the time they spend with the children.
Thank you, FMPS teachers, for doing this hard but very important job for the children of West Orange. Thank you for all the hugs and kind words, the impressive vocabulary our children learned, the beautiful art, and all the lessons about love, family, and friends. ❤️

I believe in being honest with this community, especially when the decisions in front of us are difficult.

Over the past several weeks, I have read your emails, listened to your comments, and heard the deep concern so many of you have shared. I have felt the emotion, the urgency, and the care behind every message. Your hopes for this district are my hopes as well.

This is a difficult moment, and it requires honesty, responsibility, and a clear path forward.

We are facing a significant budget shortfall that requires real solutions and a responsible path forward. My focus remains the same. Protecting our students, maintaining the strength of our schools, and ensuring long term stability for this district.

I encourage you to take a few minutes to read my full letter and understand the facts, the challenges, and the path ahead.
