We learned about the moon and the craters in the moon and then we made our bumpy moon pictures. First we mixed white paint with flour until it was a nice thick consistency then I put it into bowls with spoons and the kids spooned it out onto their posterboard circles. They spread it around and then I gave them bottle caps of different sizes to create their craters. It took three days for them to dry but once they dried, we mounted them on black paper. Then the kids added stars and planets by using Q-tips and circular sponges dipped in paint. I love doing multi step projects, and especially when they turn out so beautifully. If you can, do a close-up on the picture and you'll be able to see the craters!

We have been learning about outer space for the last couple of weeks. One of the projects I love to do every year is to give the kids a piece of black paper, some star stickers, and a piece of chalk. I have them create their own constellation and then after they have drawn the lines between the stars they give it a name. It is always delightful to see what they come up with! Such an easy project and yet fun and rewarding

Whenever i see a giant box I save it in my closet for a future project. And every year when we learn about outer space the kids and I create either a rocket ship or a space station. This is this year's space station. It does only fit two kids but we just make sure everybody gets a turn during the day and they love it so much!
