Today we worked on staying on plane with the ball. ⚾️

Lately, this hitter has been dumping the barrel and trying to launch the ball instead of letting the swing work through the zone.

We isolated the issue and used our fork bat on the line to work on creating a more consistent barrel path. We know the swing path can and should adjust depending on pitch location—but the goal today was simple: find the barrel more consistently.

After working the drill, you could see it immediately start to show up in his swing.

That’s a big part of player development:

Don’t try to fix everything at once.
Identify an issue. Isolate it. Drill it. Then let the athlete compete.

More consistent path → more consistent barrel.

That was the goal today. 🎯

Dynamic Warm-Up Before BP Don’t just grab a bat and start swinging.
A good dynamic warm-up gets the body moving, raises body temperature, opens up the hips and shoulders, and prepares the athlete to move explosively.

Prepare the body → then train the swing.

Our Dynamic Warm-Up

Perform each movement for 10–15 yards.

* Walking toe touches
* Frankensteins
* Knee hugs
* Inside heel hugs
* Walking lunges
* Backward lunges
* Side lunges
* High knees
* Heel to butt
* Shuffle
* Power shuffle
* Skips
* Skips for height
* Skips for distance
* Tuck jumps
* Broad jumps
* Pogos

Finish with:
4 × 20-yard sprints

Get loose. Get explosive. Then go hit.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when instructors teach the mechanics of a position but don’t teach the kid how to actually play the position.

Take 5 minutes outside of the mechanics and teach them the game—situations, responsibilities, where to be and why.

You’re not just helping that player. You’re helping their coach and their entire team.

Teach the position. Teach the game.

Week 1 ➡️ Week 4 big difference for this kiddo! More hard work to be done! Excited for his progress!

Great hitters have a plan at the plate.

That’s called an approach.

The greats have a routine.
They have a mindset.
They know what they’re looking for.

There’s no such thing as “free swinging.”

Their approach fits their style, allowing them to stay consistent, confident, and under control.

Don’t just step in the box and swing. Have a plan.

Top-hand drills are one of my favorites! ⚾️

We put a broomstick behind this hitter to shorten the swing, tighten the turn, and keep the barrel connected.

Simple drill. Big results.

Coaches and parents need to hear this.

There IS such a thing as too many swings in a hitting session, practice, or workout—especially when those reps are reinforcing bad mechanics.

Think of the body like a computer: every rep is a download. 💻⚾️

Make sure you’re downloading the RIGHT movement patterns so they’re there when it matters in the game.

Quality reps > more reps.
