West Monroe Concealed Carry Handgun Permit Training

The State of Louisiana has had Constitutional Carry in Louisiana beginning July 4th, 2024. All our students here at West Monroe Concealed Fi****ms and Concealed Handgun Training know that we have always believed that the 2A amendment should give you that right. However, we believe the same as many law enforcement offices in the State that you should NOT carry without getting the proper training!
Senate Bill 2 or SB2 provides protection from civil suit. If you are cleared criminally in a Justifiable Homicide you cannot be sued Civilly by the family or their children or their heirs for the killing. You do not have that protection if you are not licensed to carry.
ASK YOURSELF IF YOU ARE READY TO CARRY A LETHAL WEAPON WITHOUT THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE:
The State requires us to have a 9 hour class consisting of basics of pistols, meaning revolvers and semi-automatic handguns. Your responsibilities as gun owners and keeping them away from non authorized persons, especially children. Do you know safety procedures for owning a firearm. Are you aware of places you can and cannot carry? What to do if stopped by police?
Do you know what you can protect and cannot protect? Do you know when you can shoot and when you cannot? Do you know and understand the difference between cover and concealment? Do you have any idea how to de-escalate a situation?
Do you know the main causes of firearm accidents? Proper aiming procedures, sight alignment and sight picture as well as proper grip and stance? Do you know the 5 fundamentals of being a better shooter?
Do you know the proper ammo for your pistol, as there are many designations for various ammo and it is very important? For example, your firearm may say 45 caliber or 9mm but did you know there are many designations of each of those calibers?
Do you know the procedure to follow if you have a misfire, hang fire or squib load?
The minimum age for concealed carry is going down from 21 to 18. Is your child mature enough to manage their thoughts or temper or withstand peer pressure concerning carrying and threatening someone with a firearm, much less actually using it? We are very concerned for our youth, your children!
If you have to use your firearm, do you know who to call, what to say to whom after the fact? If you have killed another human being out of self defense will you be able to claim a Justifiable Homicide or will you be on trial for your life?
Do you have the financial means to afford a legal defense? What if it goes on for years or even if it ends up in the Supreme Court? Will you or your family go bankrupt trying to prove your innocence or the innocence of your family member? We can help you with that!
All of that being said, your permit-less carry is good for Louisiana only. If you travel to other states, there are various requirements for concealed carry. Most reciprocal states require a permit from your home state to carry. Some states do not recognize any other state permit at all. Some permit-less states allow non-permitted citizens from another state to carry in their state. Some states have restrictive rules for carrying even if you have a license to carry.
Such as:
e.g. 1) Carrying concealed on one's person without a holster
e.g. 2) Rack the slide to chamber, and pull the trigger; or must carry with no bullet in the next chamber in a revolver, so you have to pull the trigger twice to fire.
e.g. 3) Keeping an unloaded pistol in a lock box in your trunk or out of reach of the driver if no trunk. Ammo in another lock box also out of reach.
IF YOU HAVE A STATE ISSUED PERMIT, YOU CAN TRAVEL TO, OR THROUGH, ALL 37 STATES THAT ARE RECIPROCAL WITH YOUR LOUISIANA CONCEALED CARRY PERMIT.
YOU WILL HAVE PROTECTION PROVIDED BY SB2 AGAINST LAW SUIT.
FURTHER YOUR PERMIT IDENTIFIES YOU AS A PERSON WITH INTENT TO FOLLOW LAWS, NOT JUST ANOTHER GUN CARRYING PERSON THAT MAY OR MAY NOT HAVE THE BEST INTENTIONS OR PURPOSE.
IN ADDITION, YOU DO NOT HAVE TO GO THROUGH A BACKGROUND CHECK TO PURCHASE A FIREARM.
ALL OF THESE THINGS AND MORE ARE TAUGHT BY US IN OUR CLASS.
