Our Explorers program runs in Lake Oswego Oregon and soon to be in Newberg Oregon. Our Education program runs on campus at local community colleges and soon to be at Epicodus (for coding) in downtown Portland.

For our latest Instructor Spotlight, we’re sitting down with Technical Instructors Filmer Tolentino and Chris Ramer to talk about what it really takes to succeed in tech.

Spoiler alert: It’s not just about memorizing code.

As Filmer and Chris explain, the secret weapon for any software developer is learning how to learn. In an industry that changes every single day, the most valuable skill you can build is the ability to identify what you don't know, break big problems down into "simplified chunks," and figure out how to find the answers.

Meet Chris Ramer, our Lead Technical Instructor at Fidgetech! 👋✨

In our latest video, Chris shares exactly what makes the learning environment at Fidgetech so unique. It all comes down to an empathy-first approach.

"We understand that the neurodiverse brain is not a setback. It's a different way of learning," Chris explains. Instead of forcing a one-size-fits-all model, Chris and the team adapt their teaching styles to every single individual (neurodivergent and neurotypical alike) while focusing heavily on highlighting each student's unique strengths.

Working alongside Barb, our interpersonal skills and autism coach, Chris dives deep into understanding every student’s preferred learning style to give them the tailored support they need to thrive.
