Happy National Teach Ag Day from !! Today, National Association of Agricultural Educators National Teach Ag Ambassador Allie Peterson facilitated the NAAE Teach Ag Breakout box for some of our students. They learned how to use a breakout box to help their future students learn about teach agriculture as a career in an interactive way.

It’s been a busy month of welcoming events and building connections for our students! Cones and Conversations at Silver Dipper paired our new students with their upperclassmen mentors while having some cool sweet treats, Ag Council Ice Cream Social gave IAAE-Purdue an opportunity to connect with possible new members, and the IAAE-Purdue Welcome Back BBQ allowed members to connect over food and volleyball. Boiler Up!

We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Line to Purdue Ag Ed! She will officially begin on September 14. Mrs. Line is an alumnus of the Purdue Ag Ed Bachelor’s Degree program and holds a dual Masters Degree from Purdue as well. She also has hosted multiple Purdue Ag Ed student teachers and previously been a guest speaker in our classes. Welcome back to Purdue! 🖤💛🚂💛🖤

The Department of Agronomy is pleased to announce that Amanda Line will join our department as a Senior Lecturer in Agricultural Education beginning Monday, September 14.

We are very excited to welcome Amanda to Purdue Agronomy and look forward to the experience and enthusiasm she will bring to our Agricultural Education program. In this role, she will help shape the next generation of agricultural educators and support students as they prepare to make an impact in schools and communities across Indiana and beyond.

Our students haven't just been working over the summer, they've also been advancing their professional expertise! In July, Ag Ed senior Camille Thopy attended the National FFA Alumni & Supporters New Century Farmer Conference in Indianapolis. This conference is designed for FFA Alumni ages 18-24 who have a background or interest in production agriculture.

Camille said, "As 1 of 45 participants from across the country accepted to attend the conference, I was able to learn from and network with industry professionals, tour various types of agribusinesses, and craft a vision statement. I have found this conference instrumental in starting my own Dorper sheep operation, Rockin' CT Livestock, as well as knowledge to use to assist my students in starting and growing their Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs)."

Way to go, Camille! We are excited to see how you use this experience to grow future opportunities for yourself and your students.

ASEC 34000: Laboratory Practices in Agricultural Education lab met for the first time today. We learned about different ways to facilitate instruction including teacher-led inquiry and guided inquiry. Students were tasked with making a rainbow in a test tube! How do you think they did it?

Meet Lyla Bannwart, today's Ag Ed Summer Highlight! Lyla is a sophomore in Agricultural Education. Here's what she had to say about her experience as an intern with LaPorte County 4-H:

"This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern with my county’s Purdue Extension office. During my time at the Purdue Extension - LaPorte County, I quickly fell in love with the environment and the opportunity to educate and connect with youth outside of a traditional classroom setting. This experience showed me how impactful hands-on education and community involvement can be, and it has strengthened my passion for Agricultural Education and working with youth."
