The Purdue Women's Club was established on March 16, 1922 as a social organization for faculty wives and female faculty members. Today, the Purdue Women's Club has broadened its focus and opened membership to all women in the community who have an interest in Purdue University and the greater Lafayette area. PWC is an officially recognized organization of Purdue University and is a member of the Conference of Big Ten Women's Organizations.

Bring Your Own Mug (BYOM) met at Black Blanket Farm, the historic home of the Sheets family. Teresa entertained with plenty of coffee and treats and the conversation flowed between the two dining tables.

Short Stories Group met on a rainy May afternoon. Sharon had prepared her sunroom to entertain the group. Discussion focused on two stories: The Girl Who Left her Sock on the Floor by Eisenberg and The Twenty-Seventh Man by Englander. Group Chair Sandra Burbank wrote a lovely description of the meeting. All returned home carrying “the quiet satisfaction of having shared stories, ideas, and companionship on a rainy afternoon.”

Discover the West Lafayette Campus met at the Purdue Railyard. A co-working space for Purdue and the community located within the Purdue Research Park, the facility design is inspired by Purdue’s railway history.

Wine Divas dressed for a Run for the Roses and enlivened a dreary day with colorful hats. Joseph brought some summer white wines and a Chianti for sampling. The atmosphere was bright, the snacks were delicious, and the laughter might have scared the fish downstream.

Volunteers were busy on April 28 serving residents at LTHC Homeless Services. A big “Thank You” to the lunch crew: Georgia Brist, Jean Terry, Peggy Dunlap, and Yvonne Whelan and to the dinner crew: Carol Ash, Shari Moore, Elsie Thoma, and Gwen Weins.

The Annual Business Meeting and Leadership luncheon took place on May 4th. President Cherry Delaney presided over her last board meeting and installed new President Carol Warner and President Elect Susan LeMay (photo 2). Vicki Black will serve as VP of Interest Groups. Food was catered by Jane’s Deli. The bylaw changes were unanimously approved.

Educational Excursion chairs, Karen Pinto and Yvonne Whelan, planned a great trip to Indianapolis to the impressive Scottish Rite Cathedral, the beautiful Decorators’ Show House and famous German restaurant, The Rathskeller. Thirty-two members filled the bus ready for adventure. Beautiful weather accompanied them and no one had to worry about parking. Watch for information on the fall trip and YOU can enjoy traveling Indiana with your PWC friends!
