NISO, which is a part of the Purdue University Honors College, is here for all Purdue students. We assist students and alumni as they apply for highly selective national and international awards. We encourage students to spark their success as they rise to their potential, take the lead, and impact the world.

NISO provides application assistance for each of the 14 major scholarships we coordinate. You'll have our office's support the entire process from start to finish.

We'll meet with you to determine if the scholarship is a good fit for you and your goals. You'll be invited to attend writing workshops targetted towards the specific scholarship(s). You'll receive individualized feedback on every draft you submit to our office. We'll walk you through the recommendation process. If there's an interview component, we'll prepare you for it via mock interviews.

The application process may look daunting, but we'll be with you every step of the way to get you across the finish line once you start!

Nah'Shon Williams received a Gilman Scholarship in 2025 for a Purdue University College of Liberal Arts study abroad to the Czech Republic where he got to live and work inside of Nelahozeves Castle. Hear about his study abroad and the impact Gilman made!

Did you know that NISO regularly runs a variety of workshops and interactive info sessions throughout the year? Highlights include the Gilman to Fulbright Workshop, Resume/CV Writing (Fellowships-focused), Personal Statemments, and Mock Scholarship Selection Committee Workshop. If your unit is interested in a specific topic, we have a few options on networking, leadership, study abroad, and trajectory that we offer upon request!
