Purdue Policy Research Institute and the Office of Global Partnerships had the honor of hosting Professor John Blaxland, one of Australia's foremost experts on international security and Indo-Pacific strategy.
Professor Blaxland, Director of the ANU North America Liaison Office and former senior military intelligence officer, delivered a compelling keynote: "Global Security Challenges: A View from Down Under."
His insights reminded us how crucial it is to see beyond our own perspective. From great power competition to climate disruption and technological transformation β the view from Australia's position in the Indo-Pacific offers lessons we can't afford to ignore.
For our students and faculty, this was more than a lecture. It was a reminder that America's closest allies are navigating the same poly-crisis we face, and their experience matters deeply as we think about our shared future.
Thank you, Professor Blaxland, for bringing the Australian perspective to Purdue. These conversations shape how the next generation of leaders will think about global security.
