What if handwritten math could be made accessible to students with the click of a button?

Purdue Mathematics professors Joe Chen and Mahesh Sunkula helped develop ink2html, a new Purdue app that uses AI to convert handwritten notes, equations, diagrams and other course materials into accessible HTML.

The tool was created in response to a need Sunkula encountered in his own classroom, where handwritten math can be difficult for screen readers to interpret. Faculty and instructors at Purdue West Lafayette and Purdue Indianapolis can now use ink2html to create accessible course materials more efficiently.
