Congratulations to Purdue ECE alumni Sihun Kim and Jehan Shalabi, who were offered prestigious Fulbright Research Awards!

Kim will conduct research in Indonesia focused on the role of intellectual property rights on startup incubation and acceleration. Shalabi will travel to France to advance research in electromagnetic fields, optics and infrared sensing.

Their work will help build international research partnerships while advancing technologies with applications ranging from wireless devices to medical imaging and environmental monitoring.

Electrical engineering student Masha Novoselova isn’t waiting until graduation to launch her career.

Through Purdue University’s career programs in Indianapolis, she connected with local product development company Glassboard and secured an internship before beginning her junior year.

Her experience shows how Purdue ECE students can turn classroom learning into real-world engineering experience early in their college careers.

Purdue ECE recently welcomed representatives from XBOX for productive conversations about the upcoming Xbox Game Camp, which will be part of Purdue’s new Gaming and Interactive Systems Engineering concentration for students in Indianapolis.

Why is Keerti G. Melkote (BSEE ’93) a Purdue Engineering hero?

An entrepreneur, engineer and coach, he co-founded Aruba Networks in his garage in 2002. He led the company through tremendous growth, taking it public in 2007 and reaching more than $5 billion in revenue. In 2015, Melkote orchestrated the company’s acquisition by Hewlett-Packard for $3 billion. Post-acquisition, he contributed to Hewlett-Packard as president of the Intelligent Edge division until his retirement in 2019.

He came out of retirement on two years ago today — on July 31, 2024 — to become the CEO of Anyscale, an AI application platform that provides the infrastructure and tools for developers to build, train, scale and serve AI and machine learning models in the cloud.
