Purdue AI Racing made history at Laguna Seca. 🏎️

PAIR set a new track record with a 1:27.731 lap, becoming the first autonomous car to break the 1:28 mark at the legendary road course. Then the team raced to a runner-up finish in the Indy Autonomous Challenge’s first road-course passing competition.

A record lap and two trophies made for a pretty good day at the track.

Great teaching makes a difference, and Purdue ECE students are taking notice.

Thirty-two faculty, lecturers and staff members from the Elmore Family School of Electrical and Computer Engineering were recognized among Purdue Engineering’s Outstanding Teachers for spring 2026. The honor is based on student evaluations, with recognized instructors ranking at or above the 75th percentile.

Congratulations to Purdue ECE professor Dan Jiao, who has been selected as a Cornell University AI for Sustainability Visiting Professor.

She’ll collaborate with Cornell researchers on AI for sustainable semiconductors and contribute to the university’s AI4S community.

Purdue ECE faculty took home two of the four awards in Purdue Engineering’s Thinky Competition.

James Davis earned a gold prize for work that uses AI agents to help develop trustworthy software and improve accessibility, while Amy Reibman received a silver prize for a tool that helps instructors quickly create customized course materials.

Purdue ECE faculty take top honors in Purdue's Thinky Competition

Congratulations to Purdue ECE PhD student Peter Meshkov, who has been named one of Purdue University’s inaugural ARCS National Scholars.

Meshkov received the Burton ARCS National Scholar Award and is eligible for up to $10,000 per year for three years to support his research at the intersection of microelectronics, nanotechnology and quantum science.
