Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month / Celebrando el Mes de la Herencia Hispana

We were delighted to partner with the West Lafayette Public Library (West Lafayette Public Library ) to help curate this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month children’s book display! 💛

From bilingual stories to books celebrating our cultures, families, traditions, and experiences, these shelves are filled with stories that invite children to see themselves, their families, and their communities in the books they read.

El Rincón Bilingüe × Tippecanoe Latino Festival

Come celebrate with local families at Tippecanoe County Latino Festival! 🎉

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help us host interactive, bilingual, child-friendly activity stations centered on creativity, literacy, and joy. 📚🎨

¡Gracias, familias! 🩷⭐️

A huge thank you to all the families who joined us for our latest El Rincón Bilingüe storytime! 💛📚

We read El lobo de Leo / Leo’s Lobo by Melissa Cristina Márquez and followed Leo on his adventure as he searched for a special connection and discovered that caring for a pet comes with mucho amor, mucha responsabilidad, and a little bit of magia! 🐺✨

After the story, our young readers let their imaginación run wild as they painted and decorated their very own wooden alebrijes. 🎨🌈 Each one was unique, colorful, and full of personality—and, of course, every alebrije had a special name!

We loved seeing the children turn their creativity into something mágico and make their own stories along the way. ❤️

Thank you for reading, creating, and sharing this special time with us. Nos encanta aprender, crear, and celebrate our languages together! 📚💫

🌵💚 Thank you, familias, for joining us for another special El Rincón Bilingüe storytime! 💚🌵

We had so much fun reading ¡El Cucuy también tiene miedo! / El Cucuy Is Scared, Too! by Donna Barba Higuera and talking about something we all experience sometimes: miedo! 😱💭

Just like Ramón and El Cucuy discover in the story, it’s okay to feel scared when we’re starting algo nuevo. A new escuela, a new place, or a new aventura can feel a little scary. But sometimes, having an amigo by our side can help us find the courage to take that next step. 💛

🌱 We also planted a little courage! Each child decorated their own succulent basket and took home a succulent to care for. Just like plants need tiempo, paciencia, y cariño to grow, our courage grows when we keep trying—even when something feels a little scary.
🪨✨

We also painted bravery stones, or piedras de valentía! These are little stones decorated with encouraging words, symbols, or pictures that can remind us that we are fuertes y valientes 💪💚

¡Gracias, familias! We can’t wait to see you at our next bilingual storytime! 📚✨

Leo is hoping to find the perfect mascota, but his aventura takes an unexpected turn when he discovers a shelter unlike any other… one filled with magical creatures! 🐾✨ Along the way, Leo learns that finding a special conexión is only the beginning—being a pet parent also comes with mucha responsabilidad. ❤️

¡Acompáñenos en una oportunidad de desarrollo profesional en colaboración con El Rincón Bilingüe de Purdue! Durante esta sesión, exploraremos el poder de la lectura compartida y modelaremos estrategias de lectura interactiva utilizando tres libros infantiles bilingües.

In this beautiful bilingual story inspired by Mexican folklore, we’ll discover that even El Cucuy can feel afraid. Together we’ll explore how courage, kindness, and amistad help us face nuevas experiencias—whether it’s the first day at a new school, moving to a new place, or trying something for the first time. We’ll discover that being brave doesn’t mean we’re never afraid—it means facing our fears with a little help from our amigos. 💛
After the story, we’ll have a special activity to help little ones reflect, create, and build confidence through play. 🌵✨

☀️💙 Thank you, familias, for another wonderful afternoon at El Rincón Bilingüe!

Last week we read Juntos: Un hermano es un amigo para siempre / Together: A Brother Is a Friend Forever by Núria Aparicio, a beautiful reminder that life’s adventures are always better juntos. From beach days and summer memories to laughter, games, and even a few silly moments, we celebrated the special people who make every season brighter.

Our favorite part? Seeing each child leave their huellita on our summer keepsake. Just like the story reminds us that the best memories are made together, every handprint represents a unique member of our growing comunidad ❤️
