🌎 EAPS research is making headlines!

SpaceDaily is highlighting new research led by Purdue EAPS professor Brandon Johnson that takes another look at the Chicxulub asteroid impact 66 million years ago.

The research suggests fine silicate dust from the impact may have acted like an atmospheric blanket, intensifying an extreme pulse of heat at Earth’s surface before helping plunge the planet into years of darkness and cooling.

A new Chicxulub model adds fine silicate dust to the returning-ejecta heat pulse, then follows the same dust into the prolonged darkness that battered surviving food webs.

Hands-on learning is one of the best ways to make complex ideas accessible. That's why Purdue University partnered with LEGO Education to help middle school educators bring AI, computer science and robotics into their classrooms through engaging, classroom-ready activities. By empowering teachers with practical tools and real-world applications, we're helping students move beyond simply using AI, to understanding and creating with it.

EAPS associate professor Ali Bramson recently shared her planetary science research as part of Purdue's Birck Seminar Series!

Her talk, "Unlocking the Geologic History of Planets using Thermal, Radio, and Microwave Frequency-Based Exploration of our Solar System," explored how scientists can use different wavelengths of energy to investigate what lies beneath planetary surfaces and better understand their geologic histories.

We're proud to see EAPS research and expertise shared across Purdue! 🪐🌖
