On May 7 and 8, Purdue Polytechnic officially dedicated the Bowen School of Construction during ceremonies in West Lafayette and Indianapolis. The events recognized a $10 million investment from the Bowen family designed to expand the college’s construction management programs and fuel workforce development across the state.

Almost 700 Purdue students delivered 133 presentations for faculty, staff, alumni, and industry partners during the 2nd annual Student Innovation and Excellence Showcase on April 30 at the Campus Center in Indianapolis. Purdue students in Indianapolis shared their innovative research, creative works, and projects.

Building upon the chemistry that oysters use in mileslong reefs, scientists have found a way to create cement that is stronger and cures faster. Jonathan Wilker, professor of chemistry and an expert in adhesives and biomimetic materials innovation, has long been interested in formulating new, more sustainable and better materials. Recent work from his research group has included using nature as an inspiration for sustainable, affordable adhesives.

National Academy of Inventors Fellows at Purdue: J. Paul Robinson – Stories 06/12/2026

Purdue Research Foundation continues to highlight National Academy of Inventors fellows at Purdue whose collaborative, multidisciplinary research is translated into real-world technologies that benefit society. This week’s fellow is J. Paul Robinson, a Distinguished Professor of Cytometry and SVM Professor of Cytomics in the College of Veterinary Medicine’s Department of Basic Medical Sciences. Robinson’s team invented spectral flow cytometry, the basis of all current commercial instruments and considered one of the most significant technologies in the field of single-cell biological detection using fluorescence.

Through distance learning, a father and son forge a Boilermaker bond that transcends time, technology - Purdue Online 06/11/2026

Father-and-son duo Wade and Alex Johnson both graduated from Purdue with master’s in interdisciplinary engineering without ever stepping foot on campus – albeit 30 years apart. Wade completed his degree via distance learning in the 1990s, and Alex completed his degree online in the 2020s. Though the way they earned their degrees was different, they both feel permanently bonded by the shared experience of being Boilermakers.

Meredith Hall was named in honor of Virginia Claypool Meredith (1848-1936), the first woman to serve on Purdue’s Board of Trustees. She championed better housing for female students and helped establish the university’s home economics department. Purdue Heads to Eugene for NCAA Outdoor Championships 06/10/2026

Purdue Track & Field’s nine entries to the NCAA Outdoor Championships prepare for the trip to Eugene, Oregon from June 10-13. The Boilermakers earned six qualifications on the men’s side and three on the women’s side.

The top 12 athletes from both the NCAA East and West First Round sites combine for the 24 athletes that qualified for each event in the NCAA Outdoor Championships. Only combined events (heptathlon and decathlon) did not compete at regionals and took the top 24 at the end of conference championships season.

Athletes who finish first through eighth in each event earn First Team All-American, ninth through 16th earn Second Team All-American and 17th through 24th earn Honorable Mention but are not considered All-American status by the USTFCCCA.
