REACH Scholars Emma Stuart, Grace Duff, Jordan Curry and Brynn Peterson recently traveled to the Netherlands and Croatia to explore poultry production and agriculture.
During the trip, students spent time with faculty and students at Aeres University of Applied Sciences, visited VDL Jansen, learned about olive oil production in Croatia and cheese production in the Netherlands and experienced local culture.
The trip was made possible through a USDA Multicultural Scholars Program grant. Pamala Morris, professor in Purdue Agricultural Sciences Education and Communication, and Liz Karcher, associate dean for undergraduate education at Penn State University, served as faculty leaders. Graduate student Dea Bogdanic attended and assisted with program development, and Paul Brennan, former president of the Indiana State Poultry Association, also participated in the trip.
