“Promoting Peace Through Local Action” PPP builds on the experience of local leaders in successfully preventing or ending armed conflict in their countries.
PPP addresses situations in which violence appears to be imminent by empowering local leaders to take immediate action to prevent violence. Many small countries that have avoided armed conflict have made impressive political, economic, and social progress without significant outside help.

to last week when we hosted Liberia Country Director Grace Yeah Yeanay at the screening and panel discussion of the documentary One Liberia - A people inspired by peace. The documentary is produced by two of our undergraduate seniors, Allison & Julia, as part of their capstone project who traveled to Liberia this year and documented how PPP's approach has impacted the local citizens .

After Montserrado, Dr. Connaughton, along with Liberia Director Grace Yeanay, and undergraduate RAs Allison and Julia visited the Nimba county to talk to the members of PPP's local collaborators, the Nimba-Pen Pen Peace Network. Nimba county shares their border with Guinea and looks like they enjoyed a quick walk there after meeting with the team!

The Purdue Peace Project (PPP) is a university-based political violence prevention initiative that does peacebuilding work in areas threatened by such violence and conducts research to advance knowledge about political violence prevention at the local, community level.
The PPP convenes local citizens and leaders to help them address immediate threats of political violence in their communities. We continually monitor and evaluate our projects to maximize our impact. Then, we share our experience and effective practices with practitioners and scholars around the world.
