Purdue was invited to demo some robots at the Senate AI Caucus in DC and Senator Todd Young, from Indiana, showed up! Having worked in the White House, I know politicians don't always show up for these things. (Staffers are more critical, in several respects) It was nice for him to take the time and he really paid attention to what we showed him. Nice to have an Indiana politician take serious interest in science and technology, especially robotics and AI! Prof. Martin Jun and I represented Purdue with AgRobotics, Smart Manufacturing, fully-actuated drones for physical contact, and education. We now have a B.S. in Smart Manufacturing Informatics!! And the Purdue Institute for Physical AI is up and running. NSF Director Panchanathan joined, as well. (Top photo credit: Brian Mosley, CRA)
