What’s a weekend trip like while studying abroad?

I had the opportunity to go to Kraków, Poland on a study trip to Auschwitz this past weekend, an experience I will never forget. We were taught of Kraków’s rich history through presentations, discussions, and historical city walks. Additionally, we addressed the ongoing war in Ukraine. My group was able to visit a volunteer aid site to donate supplies and listened as an Ukrainian woman described her experience. Kraków is currently housing thousands of Ukrainian refugees and could use any and all help they can get.
My experience has been life-changing thus far. Seeing and learning through perspectives of the world that were once unfamiliar to me. All of which took place in one weekend trip.

Ever heard of Raisin Weekend!? This weekend, culminating in Raisin Monday, is an annual tradition at the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. New students join an ‘academic family’ of upperclassmen and take part in fun activities and traditions such as dressing up and ending in a gigantic shaving foam fight. Thanks to Global Studies major Nikita Jones for sharing her pics of this year’s event while studying abroad at St Andrew’s this Fall semester!
