Year 7 of preschool and PreK for me! It's interesting in my career of of almost 17 years of teaching how where I'm at helps me with my journey in life. I taught first grade for two and a half years and at the end of that time I was ready to close that chapter and move on to something else. I wouldn't say I had it mastered but, I felt like I was pretty successful and all of my students were successful and I was ready for something different. My 8 years in the library were amazing. A dream come true! Actually I would say my whole teaching career has been a dream come true! In the library I could teach my passion of research skills and other vital skills on how to use a library and to enjoy a good book. But when it came to the end of my 8th year I was ready for something new. Again not that I had it 100% figured out, I actually felt like I had just uncovered the tip of the iceberg there. But it was time to move on to something that would allow me to start a family a d be there for my kids.
But THIS preschool journey, I haven't even come close to feeling like I've got things figured out. I'm learning so much about early learning, I'm learning a lot about who I am as a person and how I want to be better. And I am SO BLESSED to be a mom who is involved in the education of her daughter. I can see how I could do this job, at least right now, for a really long time and still feel like I don't have it all together. It's crazy to think I've been doing this for 7 years now, it just seems like only a few years. . . It's still new and exciting every day. And I'm blessed with so much inspiration and direction on a constant basis about things that will make it better for me and for my students and for their learning journey. So here's to year 7!
