Pottery parties and lessons in-studio or at your home!

~~About the “in studio” experience~~~

At my studio in West Islip, learning pottery is very hands on. I offer lessons, workshops, and parties. Below are my two most popular offerings are lessons on the pottery wheel and Mud & Merlot parties. Individual classes: $65 for 60 minutes. Includes use of pottery equipment, supplies, and live instruction. This also includes 2 fired and glazed pieces the student would take home (ready for pick up about 2 weeks later). Bundle of 6 classes: $325

Groups of 4-12 people: $50/person for 60 minutes. (Contact for longer sessions) These can be kid parties, adult parties, or family gatherings.

2 hour — “Wine & Wheel” nights available as well. Classes and workshops can also be hand-building rather than wheel.

~~~About the “at your place” experience~~~
I provide all of the equipment and supplies needed to teach a full 90-minute pottery class. Tables, wheels, clay and tools will all be brought to your home, outdoors or indoors ready for fun! After a wheel-demonstration and lesson, each participant will have the opportunity to make one wheel-thrown pottery piece, and one hand-built piece. The pieces will then be labeled and returned to the artist’s studio after the party to be fired and glazed, then returned to the host within 2 weeks. The participants will each receive a labeled bag with their two completed pieces of pottery which they can use for years to come! All pottery and glazes are food safe and non-toxic after they have been fired in the kiln.
~~~About the artist/teacher~~~

I love sharing my passion for working with clay with new folks. I've been making pottery for over 20 years. I use ceramics methods such as hand building, slab work, and traditional wheel thrown pottery. I've also had much experience with various firing techniques including raku, salt firings, and black pottery. I love working out of my home studio and am inspired by functional art that adds beauty to tables and homes. To see more my art, please visit http://www.alisonryczek.com/

In addition to my experience with pottery, I’ve have had 3 major life experiences that allow for me to lead an exceptional service: school teacher, teambuilding instructor, and mom.

Always proud of participants who walk into a workshop never having touched clay, and leave having made something so incredibly beautiful. There’s something for everyone at the studio.

It's that time again for the holiday tree workshops at the Pottery on Wheels Studio! In these 90-minute, handbuilding clay workshops each person designs and sculpts their own table-top tree. The trees stay at the artist's studio to be fired and glazed. The stoneware ceramic trees are ready about 3 weeks after for pick up.
