Yesterday I was doing a mental inventory of specimen plants and I realized that I have seen recently. I put this beautiful creature under the shade of my Ginkgo bonsai a couple of months ago. The ginkgo is drip watered so I rarely give overhead water to that part of the bench. It was a very safe place to hide. I looked under all the figs and everywhere and had a moment of panic 😱. Then I saw it hiding in plain sight! Ugggh!!! I’m just glad I found it. I gave it shade next to big brother pannicilatus and Welwitchia Tylecodon plants. The stem looks healthy with good stress colors in the leafs ❤️

Every now and then I take a UV flashlight to the garden. Many succulents plant contain phosphorescent pigments that glow under ultraviolet light. One of the conophytums from solomon_square was particularly beautiful!

Euphorbia horrida “Snowflake” This is an amazing plant that was a little single head from Planet Desert that came to me around 2020. It thrived without a lot of attention and I was inspired by Ronit to stage this in one of her beautiful vessels.
is showing off in the foreground.

A vessel by Kurt Oviedo can make a humble plant great, although for some reason this isn’t a humble moment for aka It has been several years since it bloomed. This year will make up for that.

This plant started as a short single stem that was gifted by Jeremy Mercado If you don’t know him Jeremy grows some of the best columnar cacti anywhere. I have an army of his cactus soldiers standing at attention all over my roof garden. They are true sun lovers that hold up under the harshest bright light conditions. Some of them are old enough to flower now. I bought them pickle-size. Monkey tail cacti can burn in full sun, so be careful. This one did fine with all day full sun, but my white spine monkey tail burned with full sun. Thanks Jeremy for every amazing plant that you grew from seed. You and your beautiful family of plants and human children make Instagram a lot more interesting.
