🔬 Some of the biggest challenges in healthcare can only be solved when science and technology work together.

As a molecular biologist pursuing a Master's in Computer and Information Science at the American University of Armenia, Nelli Vardazaryan is building the skills to bridge that gap.

Her long-term vision is to establish a research lab in Armenia dedicated to studying microbiome–immune system interactions, with a focus on developing data-driven diagnostic tools and personalized treatments for chronic inflammatory diseases. She also hopes to create opportunities for international collaboration and support the next generation of Armenian scientists.

Nare’s educational journey began in a small village in Armenia and has since taken her to Yerevan, an international school in Norway, and now to the University of California, Los Angeles, where she is pursuing her doctorate in medicine.

💙 Guided by empathy, resilience, and purpose, Nare hopes to improve pain care during labor and delivery, particularly for women in rural communities who often face barriers to quality healthcare.

🩺 Through her education at UCLA, Nare aims to combine clinical practice, research, and advocacy to improve women's healthcare in Armenia, and we’re so excited to follow along.

📌 One month after being forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, she applied to Sciences Po.

She had no plan B. Only determination to excel.

Today, Lilit is a graduate of Sciences Po, one of the most prestigious and highly selective schools in France (and beyond) 🎓

Along the way, she adapted to a new country, new culture, and a new language while carrying the weight of displacement. In response, she grounded deeper in her purpose: ensuring that Armenia and Artsakh are not forgotten in international conversations.

📻 Even before graduation, Lilit joined Radio France Internationale, where she now reports on Armenia every day—bringing stories from our region to audiences around the world.

🙌 We are so proud that one of our Huys Scholars has transformed resilience into impact.
