NHPS and the City of New Haven are excited to announce the New Haven Afterschool Initiative which will provide low-cost and free afterschool at NHPS elementary and middle schools every school day from school dismissal to 5:30 pm. Registration opens Monday, August 17th at 12pm here: newhavenct.gov/afterschool. Through a partnership with the Boys & Girls Club and New Haven Counts, programming will focus on learning and enrichment, sports and physical activity, and developing positive relationships with peers and adult mentors. The program will cost $25 per week for families and will be free for families who receive Care4Kids, SNAP, or other assistance programs. See attached flyer for details.

🥫📊 Turning learning into action!

Our 6th graders have spent the year exploring food access, nutrition, and the factors that impact how communities access healthy food. As part of their Community Action Projects, students designed murals using statistics to raise awareness about food waste and are now working toward creating a Food Share/Pantry to support the ESUMS community.

🏃‍♀️🏅 What a day for ESUMS Middle School! 🏅🏃‍♂️

Our middle school athletes competed against schools from across New Haven and delivered an incredible performance, bringing home multiple top finishes in the 100m, 400m, 4x100 relay, long jump, and shot put events.

But the medals and placements are only part of the story.

We’re most proud of the dedication, discipline, and character our students displayed every step of the way. From practicing during lunch, showing up prepared, competing with determination, and demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, to cheering on competitors, respecting the venue, and representing ESUMS with pride—they truly embodied what it means to be a student-athlete.

They left the track better than they found it, supported one another, and carried themselves in a way that made our entire school community proud.

Congratulations to all of our athletes for an amazing season and an unforgettable track meet. 💙💛
