Our Lady of Victory School community manifests its mission through a partnership with parents and guardians to challenge our students to become responsible global citizens, understanding each person’s role as a steward of God’s creation. The teaching faculty also includes three part-time teachers, covering Spanish, music, art, gym, and math. The school’s pre-k program has one full-time teacher and
one part-time aide. The school maintains high academic standards. Students study Spanish from kindergarten through eighth grade. The computer lab is used by all grades, with sessions lead by a dedicated computer teacher and each grade’s homeroom teacher. While the school curriculum embraces technology, at its core are the fundamentals: phonics, grammar, reading, writing, religion, science, history, and math. At a time when many schools are slashing arts programs, all grades participate in art and music classes. The school also offers an accelerated math honors program. The rich curriculum offered at Our Lady of Victory is supplemented by a range of enrichment programs and extra-curricular activities, most of which are offered at little or no cost to students. Throughout the academic year, school assemblies focus on areas of interest to students. Recent assemblies included: Chinese acrobats; the science of skateboarding; and interesting animals. Students have the opportunity to participate in the annual school play, band, basketball, baseball, bowling, chess, cheerleading, choir, Fun Sportz, soccer, and softball. The school offers one of two full-day kindergarten programs in West Haven, and affordable after-school care, through its Project Love program. The family-oriented, secure and disciplined environment of Our Lady of Victory School cultivates a culture of kindness to one another and a love of learning.
