Our Peer Counselors and SOL Mentors brought the heart of our Holy Cross family to life during New Student Orientation, welcoming our newest Green Knights with energy, encouragement, compassion, and genuine care.

It takes confidence to step into a new family, to embrace new people and new experiences. And it takes confidence, character, and compassion to lead, to step forward, extend a hand, and make someone else feel at home.

We are so grateful for the student leaders who welcomed our newest Green Knights to Notre Dame and reminded them that they are already part of something bigger: our Holy Cross, Notre Dame family. 💚💛

Today, our faculty and staff came together to begin the new school year in prayer, gathering in the St. Brother André Bessette Chapel for a special prayer service and the commissioning of our new faculty and staff members. We are grateful for the dedication, energy, and faith they bring to the Notre Dame community!

SOL Mentors gathered for a day of faith, friendship, leadership, and preparation, rooted in Holy Cross leadership, as they prepare to welcome and support our newest Notre Dame students.

Over the summer, several of our student-athletes had the opportunity to participate in Shot for Life, a fundraiser bringing basketball and hockey players from across Connecticut together to raise money for cancer research. 🏀🏒

And what an incredible impact they made—more than $110,000 was raised for this important cause! 💚💛

We are especially proud of our Green Knights who participated: Tyrell Bryant ’26, Dylan DiCioccio ’27, Eddie Thomas ’26, and Emma Brockett ‘28. Their commitment, energy, and willingness to use their talents to make a difference are exactly what makes our student-athletes so special.

A huge thank-you as well to our student photographers, who showed up to support their classmates and help capture this incredible event. 📸

This week during New Teacher Orientation, we are excited to welcome the newest members of our faculty and staff. Over the coming days, they'll be immersed in the Mission, traditions, and community that make Notre Dame such a special place to teach, to learn, to grow, and to serve.

🏒Congratulations to Ben Vaill on his induction into the 2026 Notre Dame Athletic Hall of Fame🔰

A three-year varsity starter, Ben Vaill finished his Notre Dame hockey career with 73 goals, 68 assists, and 141 points. He helped lead the Green Knights to their first-ever CIAC Division I State Championship in 1982, scoring a goal in the title game, and earned First Team All-State, First Team All-Tournament, and Team Connecticut MVP honors as a senior after recording 68 points.

Ben continued his career at Iona University, where he was a four-year starter, team co-captain, and MVP, finishing with 163 career points, the fifth-most in program history.
A USA Hockey Level 4 Certified coach, Ben has spent decades developing players, highlighted by a Wonderland Wizards Hall of Fame induction (2022) and a 2018 USA Hockey Tier II U18 National Runner-Up finish.

Already inducted into the Notre Dame Athletic Hall of Fame as a member of the 1982 State Championship Team, Ben was also inducted into the Connecticut High School Hockey Hall of Fame in 2026. He now returns to the Notre Dame Hall of Fame as an individual for his outstanding playing career.
