While World Cup Fever is sweeping the globe, our very own LEAD Program Director Christina Stone ‘24, M’25 took home some soccer hardware of her own. Christina plays soccer for Sporting CT. The team recently traveled to California and won the 2026 Brandi Chastain Cup in a thrilling match.

The Brandi Chastain Cup is a premier women’s amateur soccer championship organized by U.S. Soccer’s Adult Council. Named in honor of the legendary USWNT player, the tournament showcases the best pre-professional and amateur teams across the United States.

Christina is a true leader on the soccer field. As the former three-year captain of UHart’s soccer team, she was recognized as CNE Scholar-Athlete of the Year and earned All-American honors, and received the Elite 20 Award. She was also awarded the Northeastern Conference Best XI for Sporting CT from the Women’s Premier Soccer League.

Congrats, Christina! A true LEADer on and off the field! University of Hartford UHart Alumni HartfordHawks Christina Stone
