Intensive Education Academy A nonprofit, state of Connecticut approved special education facility for students aged 5-22 Successfully supporting students since 1971.

The Intensive Education Academy is a state of Connecticut approved school for students aged 5-21 who have been diagnosed with learning and emotional challenges. IEA custom designs learning plans for every student individually, and administers these plans to ensure student success using one-on-one and small group learning settings and state-of-the-art assistive technology. The Academy exudes a warm, loving and caring environment for a maximum of 70 students from Connecticut and Western MA.

Last week we had the pleasure of presenting an $875 check to the House of Bread from our April Empty Bowls fundraiser! From IEA, Lorine Zdanowski (Development Coordinator), Marian Flores (IEA Art teacher and Empty Bowls committee), Hallie Kudler (IEA student and bowls decorator) and Leah Stiles (Transition Specialist, photographer and Empty Bowls committee) met with Tom Porrell, Beth Boyle and Sister Theresa from House of Bread.
We were also given a lovely tour of the building!

End of Year Staff Party! IEA staff is a dedicated group of professionals who work hard all year long. On the last day of school, they celebrated at Talcott Mountain Collective and looked forward to the summer!
