Knight Hall School

Knight Hall School Building the Whole Child. Discovering ourselves and our world. An environment that helps children build self-esteem and trust. Open 7:30 a.m.

At Knight Hall School, parents find an environment that helps children gain confidence in themselves and the world around them. It does this by providing a stimulating, non-judgmental environment that promotes the creative “self-discovery” process, rather than the end product. Established in 1929 by Dr. Edna Baxter, Knight Hall School was one of the first nursery schools in Connecticut. Today, it

is an independent, nonprofit nursery school and fully equipped child care center. The school also serves as a lab school, helping to train people in early childhood education and development. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday

Our annual policy review got a little more exciting this year… Amazing Race style!
Our teachers tackled puzzles, challenges, tasks, teamwork and plenty of laughs before making it to the final leg, which required ridiculous costumes and a very public race down Park Road!
They were fun, engaged, all-in, and such great sports through every challenge. We are so lucky to work alongside a team that can take something like a policy review and turn it into a day of connection, laughter, learning and teamwork!

Sadly, the children in the Orange Room had a lesson in death. One of the chicks did not survive. We had a lot of conversation about death, spoke about pets and people that have died. Teaching isn’t always about fun things. Sometimes we have to do the hard things. The children are making plans for a funeral. This little chick will be shown a proper send off.

Working with young children is probably the most fascinating job ever! No matter who the child is, what country the child lives in, what experiences the child has they will ALWAYS create these people! How cool is that? This is development in its most raw state!

And, we have a chick!!
