🌿 What a wonderful first week at SYC! 🌿

The first week of school is filled with so many important moments—learning new routines, meeting new friends, and building relationships with teachers and families. 💚

But even as we establish our routines and get to know one another, we are making sure there is plenty of time and space for something that is at the heart of what we do at SYC: EXPLORATION! 🔎🌱

From discovering something new outdoors, to experimenting with materials, asking questions, getting messy, building, creating, and wondering—our classrooms and outdoor spaces are full of opportunities for the children. 🍄🦋🐛

We believe children learn by doing, wondering, investigating, and experiencing the world around them. And we can’t wait to see where their curiosity takes us this year! 🌿✨

Here’s to the 2026 2027 school year at SYC 💙

We are so excited for classroom visits! 🌱💛. We can’t wait to welcome children and families to a new year at SYC!

Who knew chalk could become a canvas in a whole new way? 🔨🎨💦

Children crushed colorful chalk with hammers and then sprayed it with water to create vibrant designs. A perfect blend of art, science, and sensory exploration!

Inspired by the alligator in the elevator, Room 7 worked together to design and build their own elevator—one that can travel to many magical places. Through creativity, collaboration, and imaginative play, the children explored where their elevator might go, from construction sites to princess land, bringing their ideas to life along the way.

Room 6 had the special opportunity to bring a story to life for the residents at McCauley. Using creative props ,the children transformed into the “ Rhyming Dust Bunnies” . They enjoyed playing with language, rhythm, and sounds as they performed for such a joyful and appreciative audience.

We love when our alumni come back to visit! 💙

One of our former students Liya Tang recently returned to SYC to share their Back to Bach project with the children. It was a special moment for the children who got to see a live music performance and learn about stringed instruments.

We are always so proud to see our students grow and share their learning. Thank you for coming back to visit! ✨

Room 6 recently explored the beautiful artwork Starry Night by Vincent van Gogh. 🌌✨

They looked closely at the swirling skies, bright stars, and rich colors that make this painting so special. Inspired by Van Gogh’s style, the children created their own versions using tin foil to add texture and dimension.

Using the foil allowed the children to feel the raised lines and shapes, helping them think about how artists use texture and layers to bring their work to life. Each piece is unique and full of creativity! 🎨
