University of Hartford Counseling and Psychological Services Welcome to the Office of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Services are available to full-time undergraduate students at no additional cost.

CAPS provides a range of short-term counseling and psychological services to the University community. CAPS is open from Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. For an appointment, please call 860.768.4482 or stop by our office in the Gengras Student Union (GSU), room 313. CAPS is closed during certain school holidays and during the summer. If you are on campus and require emergency psychiatric assistance, call (860) 768-7777 for Public Safety. If you are off campus and require emergency assistance, call 911 or visit your local emergency room.

CAPS welcomes two new clinicians to the department, Sarah Hewes, LPC and Stephanie Field, PsyD. Sarah is a licensed professional counselor and psychology doctoral candidate from the University of Miami and Stephanie is a recent graduate from the psychology doctoral program here at the University of Hartford. Both have previously worked at CAPS in the past and both are highly talented and capable professionals.

CAPS also welcomes a new group of trainees for the academic year: Louis Forouhar-Graff, MD, Jennie Bernstein, BA, Adisa Haznadar, MS, and Maureen Welch, BA. Dr. Forouhar-Graff is a psychiatry resident at the Hartford Hospital’s Institute of Living. Jennie is pursuing her psychology doctorate at the University of Hartford, Adisa is pursuing her psychology doctorate at Springfield College, and Maureen is pursuing her master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Antioch University. We are excited to have such a wonderful group of trainees this year!
