Underdog MMA was founded to showcase authentic Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the Hartford area. Since we have begun, we have grown to be a full service Mixed Martial Arts facility offering Fitness, Western wrestling, Striking, BJJ and Children's clasess.

Club Underdog returns Friday April 24th at 7pm!

Open Sparring and No-gi open mat for ages 18 and over!

Last time was a blast and this time will be even better!

Come get some great training and enjoy some good food while the DJ keeps the music pumping.

$20 admission at the door, cost of food included!

Must be a student of Underdog or must be training at another academy to attend. If you train at home, or in your basement or friends backyard stay there.

I wanted to do a seminar at the gym because so many of the newer students that train at the gym dont even know who he is! So thats my fault.

He still drops in to the gym occasionally to train and people are like who is that guy?🤣🤣🤣

So I decided it was time to do a seminar to change that. Until then, enjoy some more historical footage of old school Underdog and a behind the scenes glimpse into how Matt prepared for a fight!

April 4th at 11am will be teaching a 2hr MMA seminar here at Underdog MMA.

Matt Bessette is one of the most accomplished home-grown MMA fighters to ever come out of the state of CT and he will be sharing some techniques but also most importantly some wisdom from his over 30 fights and 15 years MMA career.

Open to all students with basic MMA training ages 13 and up. Underdog students $20, guests $40

Another super cool moment from MMA class yesterday with where another Underdog father gets some training in with his teenage son.

Underdog blue belt teaching his son Owen a lesson as he secures dominant position and begins to land some heavy ground and pound during the intro to MMA class.

One of the best parts about the gym is getting to see families learn and grow together. And give a father an opportunity to show the little man who is boss while he still can.

This class is for all Underdog students who train striking and grappling and are looking to learn how to begin to put it all together. It is suitable for all levels from beginner to experienced competitors. Every Saturday at 12pm. Ages 13 and up.

Super cool moment between father and son in class yesterday.

working the pads with his teenage son who is now old enough to jump into some of the beginning adult classes.

Todd was one of the OG's of the CT MMA scene competing just for the fun of it back when we really didnt know what we were doing.
russell was one of his training partners and coaches 20 years ago when he was fighting. He taught me wrestling and I taught him striking. Now we get to pass it on to the next generation.

Being solid means honoring those who have paved the way for you, even if you've parted ways on bad terms. So that is what I try to live by. I dont publicly speak negatively on those who have paved the way for me to be where I am, regardless of how I feel about them now.

I've always believed that when you throw dirt on someone's name who supported you during your formative years, you block your blessings. Smart people will avoid you, and you'll never know why.

I see a lot of similarities between dealing with artists in the music industry and martial artists. At the end of the day its just a different form of self-expression.
