As part of our time at St. Paul’s Hospital in Addis Ababa Ethiopia, we were asked to hold a 2-day procedural sedation two day course to assist in the establishment of a procedural sedation program at the hospital. 19 pediatricians, pediatric fellows, and emergency medicine, physicians participated. I’d say based on the scores they did pretty well.

Not seen is Dr. Tigist Bacha, Director of Pediatric Critical Care who founded and leads the only Pediatric Emergency and Critical Care fellowship in Ethiopia. Also not seen is Dr. Adam Silverman, president of MERU, Director of the Center of Global Health at , pediatric intensivist and PEM physician. Dr. Canarie and Silverman are working with Dr. Bacha to improve the care of children in Ethiopia through education and increasing equipment and supplies available for patient care.
