Honoring Veterans & Exploring ROTC Programs

Today, we honor and thank all veterans for their service and dedication to our country. 🇺🇸 Veterans Day is a time to recognize the courage, commitment, and sacrifices made by those who’ve served.

For students considering college, the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) offers a unique path to both education and service. ROTC programs allow students to develop leadership skills, receive financial support for their education, and prepare for a future as officers in the military.

We're here to help students explore all paths, including opportunities through ROTC programs. Whether it’s understanding the benefits, application requirements, or finding the best program for your goals, we can guide you through each step.

🎓 West Hartford Students: Don’t forget! 🎓
Tonight is the big College Fair at Conard High School with over 150 schools attending! Doors open at 6:30 pm—be ready! Here are a few tips:

🚫 DON’T: Focus only on well-known schools.
Visit colleges you’ve never heard of. You might find a hidden gem!

✅ DO: Prepare questions.
Research the schools and ask about academic programs, campus culture, and support services. Get contact info if needed!

✅ DO: Connect with reps.
Engage, show your interest, and let them get to know you! If it’s virtual, turn on your camera.

🚫 DON’T: Ask about admissions chances.
That’s not what fairs are for. Focus on learning more about the school.

✅ DO: Debrief afterward.
Talk with us or your counselor about which schools you liked and didn’t like. It’ll help narrow down your list!

🚫 DON’T: Forget to take notes.
Keep track of your conversations and impressions. They’ll help later!

📚 **College List** – Share your list of schools, even if you’re working with a private counselor. Your school counselor can still provide important advice and support.
