🔎 Students in Mrs. Jenkins' classroom recently engaged in an exciting hands-on math activity, taking on the role of detectives to solve a place value mystery! 🕵️‍♀️🕵️‍♂️ Working collaboratively, students applied their problem-solving and mathematical reasoning skills to investigate the "Number Mess" left behind by the Petrifying Place Value Gang. 🔢👻

As they moved through stations around the classroom, students completed task cards, gathered evidence, and used critical thinking to determine the identity of the guilty suspect. 🧩✅

This engaging activity provided a fun and meaningful way for students to strengthen their understanding of place value while building teamwork and analytical skills. Great work, detectives! 🏆📐

💚🤍Marshall Wilson is showing outstanding character by living out our Roughrider values of Being Respectful and Being Responsible!💚🤍

When Marshall saw a classmate using unkind words toward another student, he spoke up and gently reminded them that name-calling wasn't necessary. It takes real character to stand up for a peer in that moment, and Marshall's willingness to encourage kindness reflects exactly the kind of respectful, responsible behavior we hope to see from every Roughrider. Great job, Marshall — keep leading by example!⭐️ ⭐️

🌟 Teacher Mail Shoutout! 🌟

Big congratulations to Lena Pritchard for earning some well-deserved Teacher Mail! Lena was caught going above and beyond — picking weeds out of the decorative gravel while waiting to go home, simply because it needed to be done. No one asked her to; she just saw something that could be better and took action.

That's what being a model Roughrider is all about! Lena's initiative and helpfulness are exactly the kind of everyday kindness that makes our school community shine. We are so proud of you, Lena — keep being an amazing example for others! 💚

💚🖤 Attention, Roughriders! 💚🖤

This Friday, August 28, 2026, we want to see you decked out in your Panther Blue as we come together to honor Mr. Dana Snyder! 🩵

Many of us know Mr. Snyder through the many hats he has worn throughout his career—as a teacher, administrator, colleague, mentor, and friend to educators across our county. His impact on our schools and the people within them is truly something worth celebrating.

Let’s show our support and appreciation by wearing Panther Blue this Friday as we honor Mr. Snyder and the lasting difference he has made in our community! 🩵

Let’s pack the school in Panther Blue, Roughriders!

EDITED TO UPDATE: WE HOPE TO HONOR BEFORE THE GAME. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO BRING CARDS TO MR. SNYDER - YOU CAN ALSO LEAVE THEM AT THE GATE. IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO ATTEND YOU CAN DROP OFF CARDS TO MR. SNYDER AT LCHS ANY DAY THIS WEEK.

SHARE FAR AND WIDE PANTHERS:

PANTHER NATION, THIS FRIDAY IS FOR ONE OF OUR OWN.

This Friday night, Panther Stadium will be about more than football.

We will have the privilege of welcoming home and honoring our former principal, beloved educator, coach and longtime Panther supporter, Mr. Dana Snyder as we dedicate Friday night's game in his honor.

Throughout the years, Dana Snyder has given so much of himself to Lincoln County High School, our students, our athletes, and the Panther community.

Now we have an opportunity to give some of that love back. We are asking former students, faculty and staff, athletes, alumni, friends, family, and every member of Panther Nation whose life has been touched by Mr. Snyder to join us Friday night.

Let's fill Panther Stadium.
Let's fill those stands with Panther Blue.
And most importantly, let's make sure Mr. Snyder can see, hear, and feel just how much he has meant to this school and this community.

Some things are bigger than football.
Once a Panther, Always a Panther. 🐾
🖤Our team, our town. 🩵

🔬 Digging Into Science: Rock Lab Day in Mr. Garfield's Class! 🪨

This week, Mr. Garfield's 4th graders traded their pencils for safety goggles as they dove into an exciting hands-on rock lab! This wasn't just about identifying minerals and rock types — it was an important lesson in what it means to work like a real scientist.

Before touching a single sample, students reviewed key science lab rules: staying focused, listening carefully to instructions, and respecting both the equipment and their classmates. They practiced proper use of safety gear, learning why precautions like goggles and careful handling matter, even for something as simple as examining rocks.

Working in small groups, students observed, sorted, and described various rock samples, developing their skills in scientific observation and teamwork. These early experiences with lab procedures lay the groundwork for a lifetime of safe, curious, and responsible scientific exploration.

A big thank-you to Mr. Garfield for making science come alive in the classroom — and to our young scientists for showing such great focus and enthusiasm! 🌟

Dear West Hamlin Elementary Families,

We want to inform you that a fire truck was dispatched to our school today in response to an activated sensor. This was a precautionary response, and appropriate personnel were notified immediately in accordance with standard safety procedures.

We are pleased to confirm that everyone in the building is safe, and there is no ongoing concern. The situation has been fully resolved, and normal school activities have continued without interruption.

The safety of our students and staff remains our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding as we follow all necessary protocols whenever a sensor is triggered, even when it turns out to be a false alarm or minor issue.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the school office.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
West Hamlin Elementary Administration
