Hello August 🍦!

This summer is flying by, and we cannot believe it is almost over!

This month, we will be focusing on the last of some summer fun☀️🕶, new routines, relationships, and readiness for transitions to new classrooms 🖍. We will be continuing our review of the 9 domains, along with all of our numbers, letters, shapes, and colors that we have been learning throughout the school year.

Our themes for the month will be: Me & My Friends, Emotions 🎭 & Cooperative Games, Going to the Circus🎪, Welcome to the Jungle 🐅🐆🦍🐘, Things That Go 🚗🚌🚲🏍, Visiting the Zoo 🦒🦘🦏🦧, and Getting Ready for School📓✏️!

For family engagement this month, our Munchkins, and their families, will be working on their favorite summer memories ☀️🕶🍉. They will be decorating, and writing about, their favorite summer memories. We cannot wait to hear about everyone’s summertime fun!

Hello July 🇺🇸!

We are so excited for the start of Water Play, and a ton of summer fun 🌊☀️!

This month, we will be focusing on 250 years of American History 🇺🇸, marine life🦭🦞🦑🐬, and sensory discovery. We will be continuing our review of the 9 domains, along with all of our numbers, letters, shapes, and colors that we have been learning throughout the school year.

Our themes for the month will be: Sea Creatures🐳🦈🐠🦀, Boat⛵️🚤 & Shell 🐚 Play, Beach 🏖& Protecting our Ocean 🌊, Camping 🏕, Little Engineers 🚂, and Ice Cream🍦 & Popsicles .

For family engagement this month, our Munchkins, and their families, will be working on “Under the Sea” projects. They will be decorating all different sea creatures 🦐🐟🐋🐙 that will get displayed on our “Sea Wall”. We cannot wait to see all of the beautiful sea creatures that come in!

Hello June 🌸!

We are so excited that it is almost summer☀️!

This month, we will be focusing on nature 🌾🪺🍃, movement, and sensory play 🏜. We will be reviewing the 9 domains, along with all of our numbers, letters, shapes, and colors that we have been learning throughout the school year.

Our themes for the month will be: Outside Adventures 🪵, Gardens 🍅🥕🌽🥬, Farms 🚜 & Bugs 🐛🐌🪱🦋🐝🐜🐞, All About Dad & Pet Week 🐶🐱, and Sports & Movement ⚽️🏀🏈⚾️🏐.

We cannot wait to celebrate all of the amazing Munchkin Land dads this month, and are looking forward to our Del’s With Dad Event in a few weeks 🍋! We will also be celebrating our annual Pre-K graduation🎓! Always so bittersweet, but we are so so proud of all of our graduates, and wish them the best of luck on their educational journey.

For family engagement, our Munchkins, and their families, will be creating collage sheets called “Delightful Days With Dad”. We cannot wait to see all of the fun moments!

Along with Father’s Day & Graduation this month, it is also National Safety Month ! Our classrooms are still enjoying their monthly “Book in a Bag” 📚 assignments, and are having a great time sharing their thoughts with their peers. If you’re new to “Book in a Bag”, here is some more information: Every month, a book goes home with each child in the classroom, along with a plush animal/item that matches the theme of the book. The children are asked to provide an assessment of the book, and to then share their thoughts with their classroom peers. Our munchkins really enjoy doing this, and look forward to when it is their turn to take home the bag. The books that are going home for the participating classrooms this are: Meet June 🌸, Sam and Dave Dig a Hole 💎, Swimmy 🐟, See You Later Alligator 🐊, The Honey Bee 🐝, The Snail 🐌 & The Whale 🐋, The Shark Lady 🦈, Over & Under the Waves 🌊, and Inky the Octopus 🐙.

Hello March ☘️💚!

We are so excited that Spring is around the corner, and hopefully some warmer weather too☀️!

This month, we will be focusing on seasons ❄️🌤️🌦️🌧️💨, care 🥰, and growth🌷. Our domain focus will be in Mathematics 🧮 ➕➖:The development of mathematical knowledge and skills contributes to children’s ability to make sense of the world and to solve mathematical situations they encounter in their everyday lives. Knowledge of basic math concepts and the skill to use math operations to solve mathematical situations are fundamental aspects of school readiness and are predictive of later success in school and in life.

Our themes for the month will be: Weather Wonders & Changes ☀️🌤️🌦️🌧️🌨️, Planting Seeds 🪴, St. Patrick’s Day ☘️ & Rainbows 🌈 , and Baby Animals 🪺🐣.

Along with St. Patrick’s Day this month, it is also National Reading Month 📚! Our classrooms are enjoying doing their monthly “Book in a Bag” assignments, and are having a great time sharing their thoughts with their peers. If you’re new to “Book in a Bag”, here is some more information: Every month, a book goes home with each child in the classroom, along with a plush animal/item that matches the theme of the book. Our munchkins really enjoy doing this, and look forward to when it is their turn to take home the bag. We are also excited to be participating in “Project Chick” again this year! We are incubating a dozen eggs, and learning all about the stages of growth for chickens. We can’t wait to see how many hatch 🐣 🐥!

For family engagement, our Munchkins, and their families, will be continuing to work on their favorite family recipe🥘. We are so excited to turn all of these recipes into a “Munchkin Land Family Cook Book”📒! We cannot wait to see all of the delicious dishes!

Hello February💗!

What a busy winter we have had so far!

This month, we will be focusing on emotional expression, relationships, and dental health. Our domain focus will be in Social and Emotional Development. Social and emotional development encompasses young children’s evolving capacity to form
close and positive adult and peer relationships; to actively explore and act on the environment in the process of learning about the world around them; and express a full range of emotions in socially and culturally appropriate ways. These skills, developed in early childhood, are essential for lifelong learning and positive adaptation.
Our themes for the month will be: Feelings😀😆🥲, Faces 😍 and Me & You 🤝, Groundhog Day , Friendship/Valentine’s Day 💌 , Dental Health🪥, and Love and Family ❤️.

Along with Valentine’s Day this month, we will be celebrating the 100th day of school📚🖍, having our school spirit week, and also getting a visit from Pearl the Tooth 🦷! So many fun things happening in this short month!

For family engagement, our Munchkins, and their families, will be working on their favorite family recipe🥘. We will be turning all of these recipes into a “Munchkin Land Family Cook Book”📒! We cannot wait to see all of the delicious dishes!

Hello December 🎄🎅🏼❄️!

We have been so busy getting ready for the holidays this year, and cannot wait for all of the fun activities we have planned this month!

This month, we will be focusing on celebrations around the world, holiday, respect, and global awareness. Our domain focus will be in Social Studies 🌎🗺️.The field of social studies is interdisciplinary, and intertwines concepts relating to government, civics, economics, history, sociology, and geography. Through social studies, children can explore and develop an understanding of their place within and relationship to family, community, environment, and the world.

Our themes for the month will be: Hot Chocolate & Cozy Blankets, Holiday Celebrations Globally, Gingerbread & Candy Canes, Giving & Sharing, All About Christmas, and Family Traditions. 🎄

Our Holiday Food Drive for Operation Stand Down RI 🇺🇸 is still taking place, and has already been such a big success. The support that we are able to show to our local veterans in need is absolutely amazing. Not only with the generous donations, but also with the heartfelt cards that the children and their families have made to go with the donations, our Munchkin Land Community continues to show how wonderful they are! ❤️

This month, our Munchkins, and their families, will also be working on their letters ✉️ to Santa 🎅🏼 . Everyone is so excited to put their letters in our special mailbox 📪 that goes straight to the North Pole!

We all can’t wait to continue to spread the holiday cheer, and are so excited for all of the fun throughout the month.

Hello November 🍁🦃!

October was such a busy, and fun filled month, and now we are so excited for the holiday season that is upon us; we have so many fun things planned for this month!

This month, we will be focusing on thankfulness, giving, and identity. Our domain focus will be in language development. The development of children’s early language skills is critically important for their future academic success. Language development indicators reflect a child’s ability to understand increasingly complex language (receptive language skills), a child’s increasing proficiency when expressing ideas (expressive language skills), and a child’s growing understanding of and ability to follow appropriate social and conversational rules.

Our themes for the month will be: What are we thankful for? Turkey & All Things Thanksgiving🦃🍽️, Forest Animals🦊🐻🐺🦉🫎, and Kindness Week & Giving Back.

We are also really looking forward to our Annual Holiday Food Drive 🥫! We are thrilled to be partnering again with Operation Stand Down RI. Everything that gets donated goes directly to supporting our local veterans🇺🇸. The food drive will take place throughout November & December. The donations last year were so wonderful, and heartwarming. It was one of those instances that really showed what an awesome community we are, one big Munchkin Land Family. A strong community, and family, that we are always grateful for, and will forever be proud of. 🩵We know this year won’t be any different :)
