🎄🎶 What if you didn't have to be "good enough" before you got to make music with other people?

That's the idea behind the Heartsong Community Christmas Ensemble.

Instead of handing everyone pre-written music and expecting them to fit it, I'll be arranging our music around the actual musicians who sign up—their instruments, their experience, and what they can bring to the ensemble.

So whether you're returning to an instrument after years away or you've been learning and are ready to try playing with others, you'll have a meaningful part to play.

We'll spend 10 weeks making music together at Mt. Sequoyah and finish the season with a joyful community Christmas performance. 🎻🎸🎹🎄

Ages 12+ • No auditions • Previous ensemble experience not required

Registration is open now, and it closes before rehearsals begin so I have time to create the arrangements for this year's musicians.

I'm so excited that we already have 7 people signed up to make music together this fall!

If you've got a ukulele sitting around that you've been meaning to actually learn—or you know a few chords but would love to feel more comfortable playing with other people—come join us.

Fall Strum is a four-week ukulele class at NWA Healing Hub starting August 31.

🎵 6 PM — Beginner Strum
Perfect if you're brand new, know a few chords, or want to build your confidence.

🎵 7 PM — Advanced Strum
For players who already have the basics and want to explore more interesting rhythms, techniques, and playing together.

4 weeks • $100

I spent years believing my songs would never be as good as "real songwriters."

Then I played one of my originals for the public, and everything changed.

What I used to tell myself: "My songs will never sound professional enough" 😔 ... "Real musicians have years of songwriting training, I don't" 📚 ... "I'm not good enough to share what I create" 😰 ... "People will compare me to actual songwriters" 🎭

Until I stopped comparing and started creating.

Here's what actually happened when I let go:

I finished songs instead of perfecting them. I stopped rewriting the same verse 47 times. I let "good enough" actually be good enough. I completed songs that had lived in my head for years. 🎵

I shared my music even though I was terrified. I played my original in front of real people. I heard my melody come alive with real instruments. I watched nervousness turn into something like joy. 🎤

Then I discovered something unexpected. Members of the audience were singing along. To MY words. MY melody. MY song. They weren't comparing it to anyone else. 👀

That's when I realized "real songwriters" was a lie I'd been telling myself. There's no secret club you have to join. You don't need a degree or decades of theory. If you create music, you ARE a real musician. 💡

So I stopped letting fear steal my songs. Those melodies deserved to exist. Comparison was just perfectionism in disguise. My music didn't need to be perfect—it needed to be heard. 🚀

That night wasn't about being "as good as" anyone.

It was about finally letting my music exist in the world.

And hearing people sing along? That's when I knew: the songs I almost abandoned mattered more than I ever imagined.

Have you missed making music with other people?

Maybe you used to play an instrument but life got busy.

Maybe you're taking lessons and have always wondered what it would be like to play with other people.

Or maybe you've always believed you weren't "good enough" to join an ensemble.

This Christmas, I want to create something different.

Instead of asking musicians to fit the music, I'll be arranging the music to fit the musicians who enroll.

That means players of different experience levels can create something beautiful together, with every person having a meaningful part to play.

Over 10 weeks, we'll rehearse, encourage one another, laugh, grow, and prepare for a Christmas performance that celebrates not just the music—but the community we've built together.

No auditions.
No pressure to be perfect.
Just a welcoming place to make music and belong.

Who is this for?

Adults who used to play and want to rediscover the joy of making music.
People ages 12 and up currently taking lessons who are ready to experience playing with an ensemble.
Anyone looking for a supportive musical community where they can grow without fear of not being "good enough."

Hey Everyone! Me and my friend Kim Bryden are hatching an amazing new experience for the kids.

Little Hearts Singing Circle™ is a joyful, play-based music experience designed for children ages 2–8 and their caregivers. Through songs, movement, rhythm, and imagination, I will nurture confidence, creativity, and meaningful connection while helping every child discover the music already living inside them. Each class is designed to inspire a lifelong love of music in a fun, welcoming, and engaging environment.
