🌿 Introducing the Arête Basecamp Team
Arête Mountain Academy is launching a new Friday wilderness and expedition training team for students who want to build real field competence.
This is not a casual outdoor activity program. Basecamp students will train as a team in practical wilderness skills, field readiness, strategy, endurance, and problem-solving. The goal is to become genuinely proficient and prepare for expedition-style and bushwhack competitions.
Training areas include:
navigation & orienteering
primitive fire
rope & knot skills
plant identification
animal tracks & sign
wilderness first aid
shelter building
primitive tools & woodcraft
archery
paddling
teamwork & communication
strategy & decision-making
endurance & field readiness
gear management
adaptability & problem-solving
Each Friday functions as a true team training day with skill drills, field application, timed challenges, mission-based scenarios, team strategy, and progressive competency goals.
The program is led by a Wilderness First Responder and EMT who is prepared to coach students at a high level in wilderness safety, field skills, emergency response, and expedition readiness.
Students will work toward proficiency across 15 Basecamp skill areas, complete field assessments, participate in mock competitions and Arête challenges, and may have opportunities to represent Arête at outside competitions when age and event requirements allow.
Basecamp is for students who want to show up, train seriously, contribute to a team, and improve.
Fridays | 9:00 AM-2:00 PM
Tuition: $300/month
Annual Gear & Competition Fee: $300
No prior wilderness experience is required - but a willingness to participate, practice, and be challenged is.
