Ex-Agent Sues Ghost Hunter Zak Bagans

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Paranormal investigator Zak Bagans refuses to pay his former agent commissions for his earnings on The Travel Channel series "Ghost Adventures," the agent claims in court.

Abrams Artists Agency sued Bagans and his production company Bagans Entertainment in Superior Court, demanding $305,833 for breach of contract.

Abrams claims Bagans was a client from 2009 through early 2014, when the agency fired Bagans' contact at the agency, Joe Rose.

The agency says that when Rose left, Bagans "unilaterally terminated the agency agreement" and stopped paying commissions.

But under their agreement, Bagans is obligated to pay 10 percent commissions for deals the agency negotiated with The Travel Channel for his appearances on "Ghost Adventures," "Mysteries of the Old West" and other shows he stars in and narrates, the 8-page lawsuit states.

Two years ago, the agency claims, it landed Bagans a 3-year $4.5 million contract with The Travel Channel.

Abrams claims that since Bagans left, he has been paid $108,333.33 and $120,833.33 and therefore owes to the agency $10,833.33 and $12,083.33 respectively.

In addition, the agency says, Bagans is due payments totaling $2,829,166.63 for April 2014 through February 2015, and will owe it an additional $282,916.66 in commissions for that.

Bagans has denied he owes the agency a penny, Abrams says. It seeks a declaration of its rights under its contract with Bagans, and court costs.

Abrams is represented by Steven Blackman with Isaacman, Kaufman & Painter.

Bagans' agent did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
