Let's go, Phillies!
Have you returned your Vote By Mail Ballot? Please be sure to VOTE BOTH SIDES of the Ballot!
Food is not a luxury.
Money was found in the federal budget to supply free breakfast lunches to ALL students during the pandemic.
Let's hope free breakfasts and lunches become a permanent thing for ALL students once again!
School lunch is too costly for a growing number of families. Will a White House pledge help? The Biden administration just laid out a strategy to expand free meals to 9 million more students by 2032. School nutrition directors are urging universal meals for all — now.
VOTE BY MAIL BALLOTS are out.
Don't forget to vote BOTH sides of the Ballot.

FOR WD BOE
Dr. Drew Ricchiuti a 16-year resident of West Deptford. He graduated from Washington Township High School in 1993, Rowan University in 1997 with a Bachelor's in Biological Sciences, and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry (Salus University) with a Doctorate in Optometry in 2001. He currently practices Optometry in South Jersey, at a very large multi specialty Ophthalmology practice.
Dr. Ricchiuti and his wife Jennifer, a 1992 West Deptford alum, have 3 children just beginning their journeys through the West Deptford school system. Their twins, Avery and Evan are currently in sixth grade at WDMS and their youngest Owen is in fourth grade at Greenfields. Dr. Ricchiuti is extremely pleased with his children's educational experience so far and he is looking forward to the success his children and all the children of the district achieve along their educational journey.
Dr Ricchiuti states, "As a Board of Education member, he is looking forward to working with his fellow Board members to ensure that each and every West Deptford student receives the highest quality education."
Jacquelyn Naphys graduated from Nazareth Academy High School in 1985. She then received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Holy Family College and a Masters of Education from Beaver College. Jacquelyn also has a Reading Specialist Certification. She has been employed by the School District of Philadelphia for 23 years. She began her career as a classroom teacher, later serving as a professional developer, a literacy facilitator, and a Reading First Coach. Currently, Jacquelyn serves as a reading specialist at the Kearney School in Philadelphia. Over ten years ago, the Naphys family moved to West Deptford. Daughter Kaitlyn attended Green-fields Elementary School, West Deptford Middle School and is now a sophomore at West Deptford High School.
Jacquelyn believes in the power of an education. “We need to give children the necessary tools and guidance to enable them to reach their full potential. The Board of Education members, administrators, teachers, parents, and members of the community must all strive to work together to create a rigorous, yet caring learning environment for all of our children. I am honored to serve on the Board of Education for West Deptford Township.”
Nancy Barna, MBM, is a Master Board Member certified by the New Jersey School Board Association. She and her husband, John, raised three children who attended schools in the West Deptford School District: Dr. Ryan Barna - Class of 1998 & Rutgers Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy – PharmD; Melissa Barna Jennings - Class of 2003 & Rutgers University – Pharmaceutical Chemistry; and Tyler Barna - Class of 2017, Rutgers Honors College Class of 2021 – Astrophysics, & University of Minnesota – Astrophysics - Second Year PhD student.
Nancy attributes her children’s success to the important educational foundation that West Deptford Schools provided to each of them. Much has changed between the years Ryan and Tyler attended WD schools – especially in the area of technology. Students went from learning exclusively with textbooks to laptops, and chalkboards were replaced Smart Boards. However, one thing that has not changed over the years – Nancy’s dedication to instilling the love of learning in all children.
Nancy's leadership roles as a Member of the West Deptford Rent Control Board; Trustee for the West Deptford Free Public Library; President of the GFWC Woman's Club of West Deptford; Cubmaster of West Deptford Scout Pack 296; Committee Member of West Deptford Boy Scout Troop 9; and Girl Scout Leader, provided her with decades of service to the community as well as great opportunities to listen to what is important to the families of West Deptford.
As a volunteer with the Greater Woodbury Cooperative Ministries Food Pantry at Colonial Manor UMC in West Deptford, Mrs. Barna worked with the District to provide information for qualified families of students through the Pantry as well as free summer lunches for qualified students through the GWCM Summer Lunchbox Program. In cooperation with West Deptford High School Key Club, Mrs. Barna has been able to coordinate the Club’s food drives with this WD food pantry – ultimately benefitting District families and other local families in need.
Nancy received her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work - graduating Cum Laude from Rutgers University-Camden. She holds an Associate's Degree in Paralegal Studies from Gloucester County College, where she also graduated with honors. Nancy is a Paralegal with the government.
“KEEPING STUDENTS FIRST” is Mrs. Barna’s focus as she proudly serves her second term as a member of the West Deptford Board of Education.
