Last month, President Lee visited ministries in Egypt to see firsthand how faith is transforming lives across borders.

Alongside Rev. Stan Kwon, President of WCCM and a valued ITS partner, President Lee visited ministries serving Syrian and Sudanese refugees, encouraging those faithfully meeting both physical and spiritual needs. The journey also included meaningful conversations with Rev. Dr. Samy Fawzy Shehata, Archbishop of the Anglican Province of Alexandria and Bishop of Egypt, and Professor Shady Anis, President of Alexandria School of Theology.

These visits are a powerful reminder that the Church is one global body, strengthened through partnership, united in mission, and committed to sharing the hope of Christ with every nation. Please join us in praying for these ministries and the communities they serve.

We are grateful to Pastor Andy Olson, Eddie Rigdon, and the wonderful congregation at Immanuel Lutheran Brethren Church in Pasadena, CA for their warm welcome during Dr. James Lee and our students’ visit last Sunday.

Immanuel Lutheran Church has been a faithful partner to ITS, where our graduate, Joshua Gunja, worshiped and served during his time as a student. Their hospitality and support truly empowers ITS' mission of preparing leaders for the global church, and we are grateful for the opportunity to connect with their wonderful church community.

ITS seniors recently enjoyed a memorable spring break in Central California with Stephene Moseley and Larry Ballenger in the Student Life Committee! During the trip, the group stayed at a desert ranch house and engaged in activities from touring walking the Pismo Pier to worshipping together at Cambria Presbyterian Church.

They shared cultures through food and music, with the retreat concluding with a heartfelt prayer circle. Thank you to our Student Life Committee for creating such wonderful memories with our students!

Dear ITS Community,

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Dr. Joseph Tong. He went to be with the Lord last week, surrounded by his family and friends.

Dr. Tong served as President of ITS from 1995 to 2008. Under his leadership, the Seminary grew in student enrollment and gained accreditations from Asia Theological Association (ATA) and the Association of Theological Schools in North America (ATS). After his presidency, he continued to teach and mentor many students.

He was a tireless preacher and teacher with great fervor for the Gospel. He never hesitated to minister wherever God called him. He made a lasting and indelible impact on both global missions and ITS, and he will be greatly missed.

Please keep his family in your prayers. Thank you.

We are honored to be part of the Chinese Seminary Consortium Launching Service, marking the beginning of the Chinese Theological Leadership Consortium (CTLC) led by LOGOS Evangelical Seminary with 基督工人神學院 Christian Witness Theological Seminary , 創欣神學院 GETS Theological Seminary , International School of Christian Education, and International Theological Seminary . This is an exciting collaboration advancing the future of Chinese-serving seminaries and churches across North America.

With the support of a $10M grant from Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, this partnership is tackling urgent challenges in pastoral leadership, faculty sustainability, and long-term institutional vitality. Through shared faculty resources, joint academic programs, and a commitment to developing 20 new Chinese-speaking theological educators by 2030, CTLC is building a stronger, more connected foundation for the next generation of leaders.

Rev. Paul Yang, Dean of the Chinese Program, and Dr. Jungwoo Lih, Dean of the Korean Program, attended on behalf of ITS, celebrating a vision rooted in collaboration, innovation, and lasting impact.

On March 4th, the presidents and faculty of the Korean Seminary Consortium––Grace Mission University (GMU), World Mission University (WMU), California Prestige University (CPU), and International Theological Seminary (ITS)––held a service of thanksgiving ahead of the launch of the Lilly Large-Scale Collaborative Project, “Revitalizing Asian American Seminaries Toward Pastoral Leadership.”

The project is being funded through the Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow Initiative, whose aim is to help theological schools strengthen and sustain their institutional capacities to prepare and support pastoral leaders for Christian churches. The four schools will work together to prioritize and respond to the most pressing challenges the congregations face, as they prepare pastoral leaders for now and into the future. As part of the project, ITS will develop a multilingual translation platform. We are very excited about this collaboration and the continuation of theological development!
