📣💙💛 What a way to start our Friday! 💛💙📣

A HUGE thank you to the Airport High School Cheerleaders for coming out this morning to cheer on our OWLS as they started their day! 🦉🎉 Our students loved all the energy, smiles, and school spirit filling the NeighborWOOD!

It’s always extra special to see our OWLS getting some love from the Eagles—especially knowing that some of these little OWLS are future Eagles in the making! 🦉➡️🦅

Thank you, Airport Cheer, for helping us kick off our Friday with so much fun and excitement! 💙💛❤️🦅

☃️🧊 Science is COOL in 2nd Grade! 🧊☃️
Our second graders got to learn about states of matter and how temperature can cause matter to change—and we made it snowman-style! ❄️
Students used frozen water balloons to build their very own snowmen while observing what happens to water when temperatures change. They made observations, asked questions, and saw firsthand how a liquid can become a solid and eventually change back again as it warms. 🔬💧🧊
Learning science is so much more fun when you can see it, touch it, and experience it! 💙☃️

✏️📚 Learning is in full swing in Mrs. Marcus’s first grade class! Our little OWLS have been working hard on sentence writing while also using sand for a fun, multisensory approach to phonics. 🦉💙💛

At Wood we use multiple approaches to learning because using multiple senses helps students review and strengthen their knowledge of sounds and spelling patterns while making learning hands-on and engaging! ✨

🪩✌️ HootFest went BACK to the ’70s today! ✌️🪩

On Early Release Days, each grade level gets to join in on HootFest! 🦉💙💛 It’s a special time for our OWLS to come together to review our OWLS Expectations, celebrate students with individual and class awards, and, of course, have some FUN with games and activities!

Today’s HootFest was extra groovy as we traveled back to the 1970s in honor of Wood Elementary’s birthday and our 50th year! 🕺🌼☮️

And our students weren’t the only ones getting into the spirit—our teachers joined the fun by breaking out their best ’70s-style outfits! Bell bottoms, tie-dye, peace signs, and plenty of groovy vibes filled the NeighborWOOD! ✌️😎🪩

Our OWLS showed up with plenty of peace, love, school spirit, and some seriously groovy moves!

🍎✏️ Mrs. Flake is raising future teachers! 💙💛

Sweet Samara decided she wanted to be Mrs. Flake at recess, so of course she had to look the part—complete with Mrs. Flake’s ID! 🥰 We may just have a future educator in the making!

The class also wrapped up the week with a little Fun Friday celebration and some yummy popsicles! ☀️🧊
