Beaufort County School District teacher Aneta Cummings has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. This is the fifth year of the PSTA Classroom Grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members Program.

Ms. Cummings is a first grade teacher at Red Cedar Elementary School . This grant will be used to support a weekly Literature Circle Enrichment program designed for higher-level first-grade readers. According to Ms. Cummings, “This small‑group experience allows students to engage in deeper comprehension, meaningful discussion, and critical thinking through shared reading of high‑interest texts.” PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership Craig King surprised Ms. Cummings at her school on August 20, 2026 with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner!

Bamberg County School District teacher April Miles has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. This is the fifth year of the PSTA Classroom Grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members Program.

Ms. Miles is a high school science teacher at Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School. This grant will purchase the Anatomy In Clay learning system resources. These sets will be utilized for modeling in science courses, especially in the Anatomy and Physiology classes. According to Ms. Miles, “I prefer hands-on methods of instruction to assist students in learning and remembering content. These materials are high-quality, reusable manipulatives that can be used throughout multiple high school science learning experiences.” PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership Craig King surprised Ms. Miles at her school with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner!

Barnwell County School District teacher Natasha Broxton has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. This is the fifth year of the PSTA Classroom Grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members Program.

Ms. Broxton is a marketing teacher at Barnwell County Career Center. This grant will be used to implement The New Lemonade Drink Project for 9th - 12th grade students, designed to provide experiential learning in entrepreneurship, product development, and promotion. According to Ms. Broxton, “The New Lemonade Drink Project engages students in a hands-on marketing and entrepreneurship experience where they design, brand, and promote an original lemonade beverage targeted to a specific audience. Working in teams, students move through two structured phases: product creation and business presentation.” PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership Craig King surprised Ms. Broxton at her school on August 20, 2026 with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner!

Florence 1 Schools teacher Robin Voss has been selected as a recipient of the 2026 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. This is the fifth year of the PSTA Classroom Grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members Program.

Ms. Voss is a photography teacher at Southside Middle School. The grant will purchase a Miops Smart Trigger Intervalometer, an innovative photography tool that will give students hands-on opportunities to explore photography, science, creativity, and technology. According to Ms. Voss, “Students will use the intervalometer to create a variety of unique photographic projects, including time-lapse, water-drop, laser, and sound-activated photography featuring events such as lightning, thunder, and other loud sounds.” The grant will also allow students to take the intervalometer home for several days to document processes that unfold over time. Students may capture a seedling growing, an egg hatching, a candle burning, a porch being built, and countless other everyday events. PSTA Executive Director, Kathy Maness surprised Ms. Voss at her school with the exciting news that her grant was chosen as a winner!

Two Horry County School District teachers have been selected as recipients of the 2026 Palmetto State Teachers Association Classroom Grant. The teachers are Justine Bellamy and Lucia Watson. This is the fifth year of the PSTA Classroom Grants created as part of the Reinvesting in Our Members Program.

Ms. Bellamy is a cosmetology teacher at Conway High School . This grant will be used to kickstart the new natural hair braiding course. The funds will help purchase long hair mannequins, synthetic hair, styling products, and other essential supplies for students to use. According to Ms. Bellamy, “The Natural Hair Braiding major equips students with the knowledge and techniques related to the natural haircare industry. The world is changing, and real-world experience is a great experience for program completers.”

Ms. Watson is a twelfth-grade health science pharmacology teacher at Socastee High School. This grant will be used to purchase pharmacy shelving in her classroom. This organizational tool will create a hands-on learning experience through a simulated pharmacy in the classroom to help students obtain their Pharmacy Technician Certification. According to Ms. Watson, “These materials allow students to visualize and practice in an authentic pharmacy environment while learning medication names and classifications required for success on the PTCB exam.”

PSTA Director of Teacher Leadership Craig King surprised Ms. Bellamy and Ms. Watson at their schools with the exciting news that their grants were chosen as a winners!
