CBISD Weather Update

The tropical system in the Gulf is currently expected to remain to the east of our area, with some potential rain Tuesday afternoon in our area.

At this time, we plan to remain on a regular school schedule tomorrow, September 1st, 2026.

As always, please prioritize your family's safety regarding any travel during weather events.

We will continue to monitor the weather & road conditions. If any changes are needed to the school day, families will be notified through our district communication system as well as on district social media platforms.

On August 18th, 2026, the CBISD Board of Trustees officially approved the renaming of Griggs Field.

The newly approved name will be Jack Hays Stadium at Griggs Field.

The CBISD Board received a citizen's request on May 11, 2026, to consider the renaming.

CBISD is now in discussion of how to physically apply the new name to the facility.

Back-to-School Transportation Notice

Dear Parents, Guardians, and Students of West Columbia Elementary, Wild Peach Elementary, Barrow Elementary, West Brazos Junior High, and Columbia High School,

As we begin another exciting school year, the Columbia-Brazoria ISD Transportation Department would like to welcome all students back to school.

During the first few days of school, bus routes often experience delays as drivers become familiar with new students, updated routes, traffic patterns, and loading procedures. We ask for your patience and understanding, as it is common for buses to run later than their normal schedules during the start of the school year.

CBISD hosted their annual Mini Academy training last Wednesday, August 10th. All employees gathered at CHS for a full day of trainings.

This event would not be possible without our Sponsors and Community Partners helping with food trucks and door prizes throughout the day.
