Five years ago, we decided to expand our College Autism Readiness Retreat, to include three different retreats respectively targeting high schoolers who were rising juniors, rising seniors, and recent graduates. Over the past five years we have connected with 215 students, across 9 states, attending 17 different universities. We focus on the quality of pur program, limiting the number of participants in each Retreat. We truly can't thank our campus and community partners enough for making this possible!! Huge shoutouts to our incredible D-CAP staff, GA's, and student instructors!!

🎡 Music, community, and meaningful connection! 🎡

Yesterday, our West Chester University College Autism Readiness Retreat (CARR3) students stepped out into the local community for a special visit to Taylor's Music Store & Studio.

From hands-on instrument exploration to discovering the history of the shop, it was an incredibly warm and inclusive experience.

A huge thank you to Len Doyle, President and CEO of Taylor's Music, for personally hosting our group and guiding us through the store.

Outings like this are at the heart of what we doβ€”building confidence, navigating new spaces, and ensuring every student feels a sense of belonging. Thank you, Taylor's Music team! πŸ’œπŸ’›

Studying abroad comes with a whirlwind of emotions: Excitement, fear, anxiety, doubt, amazement, joy, disbelief, etc. With these emotions, also comes skill development and overall growth. While seeing sights you only thought existed in movies, students learn culture, history, and independence. They master navigation systems, transportation, food shopping, cooking via Celsius, and laundry using pounds. We understand support is needed, which is why for the past two years we have partnered with CIS Abroad | Study and Intern Abroad and to provide a 3-week study abroad in London. D-CAP director accompanies the student(s) for the first week to onboard, meet with team, and acclimate to area. Building confidence and skills to successfully do the next three weeks independently. It is truly amazing to see the transformation of a student before, during, and after studying abroad. Ania went on 3 culture immersion trips with D-CAP, now studying abroad with confidence. West Chester University where opportunities are endless for all of our students.
