🌟 Join us in welcoming our 2026 Summer Nursing Interns! 🌟

This summer, these new Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) will gain valuable hands-on experience as they work alongside our care teams, build their clinical skills, and learn what it means to make a difference in the lives of patients every day. Many will continue their nursing education this fall as they begin their Registered Nurse (RN) year.

Please join us in welcoming Firefighter Derek Beckman to the Burlington Fire Department!

FF Beckman joins our team as an EMT and will begin the Paramedic Program at SCC this August. We are excited to have him on board and look forward to supporting him as he continues his education and career in the fire service.

We would also like to congratulate Firefighter Thornburg and Firefighter Woodbury on successfully earning their paramedic certification! They are currently completing their 10-day paramedic onboarding process with our department before serving our community in their new role.

Their journey doesn’t stop there. Next up, both firefighters will be testing for their Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials Operations and Awareness certifications as they continue building their skills and professional development.

To top it off, Firefighter Thornburg and Firefighter Woodbury recently received their permanent helmet shields after successfully completing their one-year probationary period—a significant milestone that reflects their dedication, hard work, and commitment to the Burlington Fire Department.

Congratulations to all three firefighters on these exciting achievements and milestones. We look forward to watching each of you continue to grow and serve our community with pride!
