RockLab got a little gear upgrade!

We brought in some new equipment from Shure, Blackstar, BOSS, VOX Amplification USA, Ibanez Guitars and more to get the band up and running. RockLab is officially underway, and I’m looking forward to seeing what these students can do over the next 12 weeks!

The other reminder here: Northbound Sound can get you gear.
We carry instruments and accessories in store, but what you see on the shelves is only a fraction of what we have access to.

If you’re looking for a specific instrument, amp, pedal,
microphone or accessory, special orders are always welcome.
Before you automatically order it online, check with your local music store. We might just be able to get it for you.

Today was awesome! We had our first session for RockLab and made some major progress in learning songs together as a band. We had our first day of Group Ukulele 101 and everyone picked up their instrument very quickly! It was definitely a major success. Looking forward to more group classes to come.

Student Spotlight: Alaina!

Alaina has been one of those students who just keeps wanting to learn more. She started with guitar, and lately she’s been branching out and adding violin to the mix.

This week both of our violins were due for some attention, so I got them cleaned up and restrung with fresh strings before we got back to making music.

That willingness to keep learning, try another instrument, and challenge yourself is exactly the kind of growth we want to encourage at Northbound Sound. Keep it up, Alaina!

And a reminder—we work on a lot more than guitars around here. From restringing and adjustments to maintenance and repairs on a variety of instruments, if something in your house needs some attention, bring it by Northbound Sound and we’ll take a look.

Student Spotlight: Ty!

Ty has been working with me on voice for the past several months with a pretty awesome goal—building his voice and confidence so he can eventually join his church’s worship team.

He’s made a ton of progress, but I think he officially wins the award for commitment. Ty recently lacerated his liver riding a bull at the fair… and still showed up for his voice lesson. 😂

Maybe take it a little easier next time, Ty.

Seriously though, I’m proud of the work he’s putting in and excited to see him keep moving toward his goal!

Finished up this Gretsch setup and got it back into the hands of Trent, worship leader at Faith Alive Church.

Trent has supported Northbound Sound several times, and I always enjoy getting to work with another local worship leader. There’s something especially rewarding about getting an instrument playing right and sending it back out to be used in ministry.

Student Spotlight: James!

After a busy summer, James and I are getting back into the swing of regular lessons and practice. Right now he’s working on cross-hand arpeggios—and doing a great job with them!

Summer has a way of throwing routines out the window, but a new school year gives us a chance to settle back in, set some new goals, and keep growing.

If music lessons are something you’ve been thinking about for yourself or your child, fall is a great time to get started.

We’re currently scheduling fall lessons at Northbound Sound for piano, guitar, drums, voice, flute and more, with several instructors available.

I’ve missed doing this.

It’s been a while since I’ve had students rehearsing together, learning how to be a band, and eventually taking the stage.
