🐻 PACK THE DEN, BEARS! 🐻

This Friday, September 18th, is Third Friday Count, and we’re challenging our Jefferson Bears to show up BIG! Our goal is 100% attendance — every Bear at school, on time, and ready to learn!

And yes… if we hit 97% attendance, Mr. Burto is getting PIED IN THE FACE at our next assembly! 🥧

It's been a great start to our school year over this last week. Here are some candid snapshots that paint the picture of what our Jefferson Bears have been up to. Maybe it's "First Day of School" excitement, posing for a photo with a parent, our all school assembly, student generated expectations being signed, student helpers learning the breakfast routine, community circles for morning sharing or procedure practice in enrichment classes. Whatever it is we've had a lot of fun to start the year!

Let’s make ’26–’27 an incredible year!

Just a reminder that school begins at 8:30am every day. At Jefferson, every classroom will begin their day with a morning meeting. This is a tremendous opportunity to build community, relationships and a strong sense of belonging. Therefore, it is important that ALL students are in their seats ready to learn by 8:30am.

MEET OUR NEWEST BEARS:
As we get ready for another great year at Jefferson, we're excited to introduce some new staff members to our Jefferson Family!

Last, but not least, Ms. Anna Amstadt will be joining us as our newest 4th grade teacher! Anna comes to us after spending this past semester teaching 3rd grade at Horace Mann. She previously spent an entire year in 4th grade at Jefferson where she completed her field experiences and student teaching.

A fun fact about Ms. Amstadt is that she has lived in Milwaukee for 5 years

In her free time she enjoys getting a coffee and walking around a thrift store. She also enjoys finding new TV shows to watch.

Ms. Amstadt is looking forward to officially joining the 4th grade team after being a student teacher at Jefferson. She is very excited to start the school year and to learn all about her new students and families.

MEET OUR NEWEST BEARS:
As we get ready for another great year at Jefferson, we're excited to introduce some new staff members to our Jefferson Family!

Next up, Ms. Amanda Tercha who will be joining us as our new reading teacher!

Ms. Tercha comes to Jefferson with many years of experience as a reading teacher and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise that will be a tremendous asset to our students and school community.

In her free time, Ms. Tercha likes to spend early mornings at the YMCA. She loves being one of the first to see the sunrise and her kids keep her busy between competitive cheer, ice hockey, and dance.

A fun fact about Ms. Tercha is that she refuses to read audio books at home. There's something special about holding a physical book!

Lastly, she is looking forward to building relationships with students and staff. She also looks forward to helping students become stronger, more confident readers!

MEET OUR NEWEST BEARS:
As we get ready for another great year at Jefferson, we're excited to introduce some new staff members to our Jefferson Family!

Up first, meet Ms. Alyssa Gumm, who will be joining us as one of our 5K teachers!

Ms. Gumm comes to Jefferson with seven years of teaching experience and says she is most excited about connecting with families and building connections with an amazing group of kids! She is excited to join a community that makes school a safe and exciting place to be.

Outside of school, she loves reading, working out, attending sporting events, and traveling!

A fun fact about Ms. Gumm is that she has never had a cavity!!!

We are so excited to have Ms. Gumm joining our team. Please help us give her a big Jefferson Bear welcome!

Thank you to everyone who attended Popsicles on the Playground hosted by Jefferson’s brand new Community & Family Engagement Committee. Also, thank you to our Jefferson PTA, Girls on the Run program and Cub Scouts for joining us! We had a great turnout and loved seeing our Jefferson community!

We are beyond excited to announce that the transformative program, GIRLS ON THE RUN is coming to Jefferson this fall! This program is geared towards Jefferson 3rd - 5th grade girls only. The program uses running and physical activity to teach vital social, emotional, and life skills, helping participants build confidence, establish healthy habits, and care for themselves and others.

SHOUT OUT to our very own, Mrs. Arieta and Ms. Raeck for launching this program at Jefferson!

REMINDER: Popsicles on the Playground is Wednesday!

Join us from 4:00–5:00 PM for popsicles, play with friends, and a chance to connect with our Jefferson community!

The current forecast shows a chance of afternoon thunderstorms. We’ll be monitoring the weather closely and will communicate any changes if needed.

We hope to see you Wednesday! GO BEARS!

Parking Reminder: Due to the state fair utilizing the back lot at Jefferson, you will need to park in the neighborhood for this event.
