“A teacher affects eternity; she can never tell where her influence stops.” Earlier this week the Wildcat Family lost Miss Joanna Hernandez. She retired this past school year after 31 years with Weslaco ISD and 36 years in education. She served in a great capacity as a Special Education and Resource Teacher. She touched many lives in her career as an educator and left an impact on many.

Hidalgo County continues with mosquito control efforts. Mosquitos are most active from dusk to dawn, and we will continue spraying during these hours and as scheduled on the map you see. We are spraying to reduce the mosquito population every day, and we are working in all areas of the Pct.1 from Hargill down to Progreso and Alamo to Mercedes. We do not require you to call in a work order.
We also encourage residents to help with mosquito control by:
-Mowing grass to reduce mosquito breeding sites.
- Reducing standing water around their homes. Eliminate old tires, buckets, and other areas that can be breeding sites for mosquitos.
**Don't forget about your outdoor pets! Protect them too.
