Today my cousin Macario Jaramillo Jr.. passed away. He was a WISD bus driver for many yrs. Rest in Peace Macario. You will always be in our hearts.
I know this is only the third day into the new school year but I do have a concern in regards to my middle schoolers my 6th grader and my 8th grader on their electives. There seems to be a growing issue that there are way too many students for one teacher to teach. Parents please do your part and talking to your kids about respect for the teacher so the teacher can teach his class you've got kids spamming during the lesson and it's freezing up the classroom because your children don't want to participate in a positive way and Weslaco ISD there's got to be a better way than having 90 to 100 students for one elected teacher to teach because they're not able to teach because of the distracrions therefore the children are not learning .Lets help each other out Parents! . sorry for the long post but it's getting worse by the day
Weslaco ISD really needs to step it up right now and bring some ease to the community. I'm calling on our superintendent and school board to postpone the 2020-2021 school year, or to do 100% remote learning. This is not something that can be decided 1 week before the school year starts. We CANNOT procrastinate!!! People are DYING. Our hospitals are at capacity. Our doctors and nurses are falling ill. Be the voice for your students and families WISD! Now is the time to act!!!
Wisd since the seniors won't have their graduation ceremony I think a good way to remember them is by making a mural somewhere in weslaco were both Weslaco East and Weslaco High seniors can go and sign also take pictures to know that the community did not forget about them.
Will 5th & kinder get graduation ceremonies as well? And will field trip money be refunded?
I strongly recommend and believe it is TIME our elected board members, along with our Superintendent hold a TOWNHOUSE Meeting to update our district on the latest in reference to the Covid-19 virus!

A big congratulations to Weslaco High School alumni Laura Van Tilburg. In December, Laura obtained a master's in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. Laura has begun her medical career as a Physician Assistant in Orthopedic Trauma Surgery. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology in 2017 and a Master of Science in Kinesiology in 2018 from UTRGV and was a Women's basketball team member. At WHS, Laura played varsity basketball all four years, track and field for two years, was a member of NHS and graduated No. 4 from the Class of 2014. We are very proud of you, Laura!

Congratulations to David E. Vasquez, a Weslaco High School alumni from the Class of 2016. David went to law school and earned a Doctorate of Jurisprudence from Liberty University School of Law in Lynchburg, Virginia. He received a Bachelor's degree in Government from UT-Austin in 2019. At WHS, David graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and was a drum major of the Panther Corps. We are very proud of you, David!

This week, WEHS senior Paisley Garza competed at the UIL State Competition in Newswriting and is the 5A STATE CHAMPION! In addition, her entry was voted 2nd best of all the entries 1A - 6A! Paisley is the first-ever Journalism State Champion in Wildcat history! 🤩🏆🥇👏Congratulations to Paisley and her coach, Mr. Joe Ramos!

Congratulations to Karina Chapa, a former Weslaco East High School student. She will receive her Master of Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Texas Health Science in San Antonio. Karina was co-captain of the cheerleading squad, competed in UIL Journalism and Ready Writing, and was the NHS historian. She graduated in the top 25 from the Class of 2016. We are very proud of you, Karina!
